Booked AKL Concierge...Now thinking about downgrading

We have booked two nights at AKL concierge for 12/17 and 12/18. Arriving in the afternoon on a Saturday and leaving on Monday.

The main reason we booked concierge was for the Sunrise Safari. But what I read recently was that the safari is only available on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Therefore we will not be at the resort when it is given.

Do they sometimes change the days on the safari?

Also since we will spend very little time at the resort, is it worth going for the additional money (about $80/night) for concierge if we can not go on the safari?

HELP....HELP....HELP!!!!!!!

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I plan on booking concierge the weekend we are there, but that is a planned "low key" weekend. We are just staying there to relax, enjoy Boma's and Jiko's, let the kids swim and run the marathon.
Now, if I was not going to be there to enjoy it, why pay for it????
As for the Sunrise Safari, I hope it is there when we are there, but I haven't heard about its schedule.

We book concierge when we are planning on relaxing and enjoying the resort, if we are spending a lot of time in the parks we don't book concierge.

They are changing the days the first fo April to Thursday and Saturday. Best bet would be to call down and see if they change the days for the seasons or if those days will be permaneant.

AKL CL is still very much worth it without doing the Sunrise Safari! I would look into the Sunset Safari (can't remember which days it is available...)
It's worth it without doing anything but having the wonderful Lounge to hang out and relax and snack in :cloud9:
Good luck!

I know they changed the days of the Sunrise Safari. I know Sunday is definately one of the mornings b/c I booked it for my husband, but I can't remember the other.

I thought about downgrading, too! But I know DH will love the SS and figure it is hopefully worth the splurge!

April 1. 2005 Sunrise Safari Will Be On Thursdays And Sundays. Call Concierge @ 407-938-4755 As Soon As You Make Your Reservations And Get On The List For The Safari, Then @ 90 Days Out They Will Confirm That You Will Be On The Safari. If You Ever Get The Chance, Also Do The Sunset Safari, Which Is On Monday, Wednesday And Friday Evenings.

I have the Sunrise Safari booked for my upcoming May trip. Starting April 1st, the safari will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays.

If the fact that the tour day has changed to Sunday and if this continues to December I will be very very happy. :flower: and we will not consider changing the reservation.

I am going to get on the phone right now and make a reservation. Thanks for the phone #.

I think the cost for the Sunset Safari is somewhere around $150/person. Is it really worth that much.
I guess if we decide to do the sunset safari that we could do it the day we check out, Monday 12/19.

ANOTHER QUESTION :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Are there any AAA, AP or Disney Visa discounts?

!

I contacted AKL Concierge and was told that the days were changed because of the Extra Magic Hours Days.

I also was not able to get "on the list". They told me I would be contacted by them 4 months prior to our arrival.

Also the Sunset safari can be taken on your checkout date. He also said we could hang around the concierge lounge all day on the day we checked out if we wished.

Still lookin' for opinions on the Sunset Safari being worth the cost.

Yep, the old days were Sat and Tues, which are now EMH morning and evening days. The EMH was changed very quickly and the concierged didn't even know about it until we did. The Sunrise Safari's that were scheduled for Sat in Jan - March had to start at 6:30am to before the EMH. They were concerned about the early hour and the length of time the animals would be out in the savannah.

We did the Sunset Safari last March and I can say without hesitation that is the best money we have ever spent at WDW. You have to remember that the meal at Jiko is worth close to $75 - $100 a person with all the wine. If you do a search, you can find my review plus several other very good ones.
