Showed up today at Bwv with a standard studio booked. I was given an HA room which I asked not to have but no other studio was available. Turns out this room is on the first floor directly behind Leaping Horse Libations, essentially a pool view. The room is great, steps away from the elevator and exit to the pool.
We have never in 15 years gotten an upgrade until now as this is a pool/garden view.
Very cool.

It is so nice to read that instead of being angry about getting a HA room, you chose to be happy about the location. spruce, you make the world a little better! Enjoy your trip!

That's great! You sound a little like us. No matter what room we get, we always find something positive about it. Though being that close to the "bar" might be a little tempting for me. Have fun!

Did they tell you it was an upgrade? The reason I ask is because we had that room on our first stay at BWV. When the front desk CM pointed out the room location on the map I mentioned that we had booked a Standard View, not a Pool/Garden view. The CM said that this particular room is classified as Standard View because the view of the pool is blocked by Leaping Libations.

We did not like the lack of a closet and room safe, and the lack of storage space in the bathroom but it was a very convenient location.

we had that room a few years ago as perferred view and really liked it.:cool1:

After some research I went back to the front desk and was told this is a garden/pool view. I was not told this was an upgrade at check in but it clearly seemed to be, hence the research and trip to the front desk to ask.
No, I don't like not having a safe too. The closest space isn't an issue. The location is very convenient and I'm not looking at a parking lot, bell services or a partial canal view at the end of the long hallway.

To others that posted positively regarding my acceptance and attitude, thanks for the kind words.
Criminitly, I've done the sad sack routine at check in and it's not worth it. I said to the front desk lady, what am I supposed to do, jump up and down and make a scene? She thanked me for my graciousness which helped set the tone for my trip. I don't feel screwed getting an HA room, the location is better than I expected to get, upgrade or not. I'm obviously maturing (53) because I don't care, and am content. Drama is easy, peace is a bit harder but that space is much more satisfying.

The same thing happened to us a couple of weeks ago except our studio was lobby level (2nd floor I think.) It was an awesome view and so much more convenient location wise than the standard views we've had in the past. No long hallways! Totally worth having a HA room.

Happened to me too! Booked a standard and got a pool view, first floor. Opposite hall of you though, was to the right. It was nice being so close to the door- doesn't happen very often at the boardwalk! Those darn long hallways!! Haha!

Why would you not want a HA room? I've never had one but is there a down side to the room? Thanks

The only reason for me is no tub causes the stand up shower to usually make a wet bathroom floor.

Great attitude Spruce!!! For me it seems that just about every room we have had has its good and bad and since vacation time is very precious to me I will always choose to focus on the "good" that the room presents. Of course there was the time when we had the one level Grand Villa and that was ALL just Great!!!

sounds like the exact same room "upgrade" we had in may (booked SView for one night, then moved to BW view - i don't want to post the room number in case you're still in the room, but it appears to be the same). later, we called MS to make sure we weren't charged more points, but they said that room is considered SV.
the location was fantastic, loved the view (we normally don't care for ground floor because of the lack of privacy, but shrubbery provided a buffer). we had the DDP for the one night, and it was great being (literally) seconds from the BW itself :cloud9:

hope you continue to have a wonderful time :thumbsup2

Make sure you check your account to see you were not charged extra...that's happened to others at times..

HA rooms are different at different resorts so this information applies only to the HA studio I stayed in at BWV.

As already mentioned you get a roll-in shower instead of a tub/shower. Because it is a roll-in, there is no threshold at the bottom of the shower to contain the water so it can seep out onto the rest of the bathroom floor if you're not extremely careful where you point the hand held sprayer when you take a shower. Also, the only place in the bathroom to set anything down is a very narrow shelf below the mirror so you have to store all your toiletries outside the bathroom and carry things back and forth as you need them. We brought in the little plastic table from the patio, washed it, covered it with something (a few layers of paper towels maybe?) and used that to hold our toiletries.

There is no closet. You get a small armoire but because it contains the ironing board and pack'n'play, there is very little space left for clothes. We unloaded the armoire's contents and piled it up in the corner of the room so we could hang up our clothes.

There is no safe in the room. In the studios at the older resorts the wall safe is usually in the closet. With no closet in the room, they opted to not provide a wall safe either. We always lock up our valuables whenever we leave the room so it was a concern to us that there was no way to do that. I can't remember what we did with our wallets when we went to the pool.

We made do but I was bothered by the fact that someone who needs an HA studio and stays in rooms like that every trip doesn't get the same amenities. There is space in that room for a larger armoire, storage space in the bathroom accessible to someone in a wheelchair and a wall safe but they didn't do it and that's not right.
