booked a room today with AAA discount, but...

Any of you AAA members make room reservations online at AAA travel? I didn't realize I could call CRO and get the AAA rate so I booked online. However, CRO told me that it is the same as if I had gone through any travel agency, Disney won't have any record of my reservation until a few days before... So I couldn't make any room requests, i.e. non-smoking etc. I was wondering if anyone else had done this, and if so, were there any problems? Thanks!

Sorry if this has been repeated, but I know that my AAA will book without a number, but can't really do an invoice or put it in their system without it. I know because I was a travel counselor with them.

Maybe you can answer my question... Since I made my ressie online at the AAA site, if I would call AAA travel, could they access the reservation on their system & put requests on the reservation? For example, like requesting non-smoking? Just thought you might know... :confused3 Thanks!!!

Originally, I asked for a quote through AAA's website. When I did, I was given a quote from an assigned AAA TA. From that point on, all of my dealings were via e-mail and phone with only that AAA TA.

Based on my dealings, I can guarantee you that Disney has your reservation in their system. At one point, I asked for my Disney confirmation # as it appeared that the number on the confirmation that I received from AAA was not the Disney #. My TA informed me that it was the only # that Disney gave to her. That leads me to believe that Disney has everything in their system.

In another correspondence, I asked my AAA TA about making room requests (In my case, I wanted to request the AB section of POR). She said that she would have to put that on the reservation. I still plan on calling/faxing POR directly the week before I arrive with more specific requests (non-smoking/building preference).

The only thing that I can not comment on is the success of this as my trip is not until October. Hope that helps.

ETA: When I made my initial deposit through my AAA TA, I was asked if I was a AAA member. I responded that I had just ordered my membership, but had not received my card yet. She said that was fine, but make sure I had it for check-in. Since then I have made my final payment and still have not been asked for my membership #.

That was going to be my response. Usually they request goes to a TA and they are given you Disney ressie number right away. They will also have to make the requests, but it doesn't hurt to fax them in yourself.

Thanks for the info! That did help me. We're going to POR as well! I actually want to ask for Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace in Magnolia Bend! So if I call AAA they should be able to add that to my reservation. I also planned to fax my request - but I was told they wouldn't have the info or begin the room assignment process till about 3 days before :confused3. Guess we'll just have to wait & see. Please let me know how you do.

I wondered too about my number being in their system because I wanted to do the 90 + 10 ADR's. I called at 90 days & the CM asked for my confirmation number & phone number & I was able to book the entire week, but I was afraid to ask whether he actually found the number in the system, for fear I'd jinx myself. :rolleyes1

Your info brings up another question... When you say that you made your final payment. can I actually pre-pay to AAA? I had hoped to do that with Disney, so I would be thrilled if I could do the same thing with AAA. I like all that to be taken care of BEFORE I go. It's easier for me to make payments than to save the money  . I just have room reservations - I didn't do a package. I wonder if that would make a difference?

Again, thank you very much for your help. I look forward to hearing how it all works out.

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try calling AAA tomorrow, but I will fax later as well.

Gorgeous wedding picture, by the way!

You can call your AAA TA any time and put money down. They will just call Disney and apply it your ressie

Well, I booked a package and the rules were the same as CRO's packages (i.e.-Final payment is due 45 days prior). I have never booked room-only, so I can't help you there.

When I booked AAA rate at WL, they asked for my number during the call(Have been a member for 10 years, best money I have ever spent) they also told me to have my card ready at check in-brought card, WL front desk never asked for it. So......bring it just in case. Better to be safe then sorry.....
