They say they need my number to be able to guarantee me the room at that rate! I called before and was told that my number would not be needed until check-in! Dont get me wrong, I will get AAA. But I was hoping to buy it closer to my trip day so I could use it for a christmas trip next year without renewal! Could it be the WDW phone rep. isnt aware of the AAA rate policy?

I was not required to give my number when I booked our room for our trip. I was told that I would be required to show the card at check in to keep the discounted rate. Maggie

Three trips with AAA discount - they've never asked for the card at check-in. And I'm always so paranoid that I will forget to bring it! I guess I could use it if our towncar service evr breaks down! LOL!

I called yesterday and was asked for my number. My sister and mother also called at seperate times yesterday and were not asked but were told to bring their card with them at check in.

I would call again and check, we've booked several times through AAA and have never been asked for it over the phone. Just to show at check-in (and half the time they never even bothered to look at it).

I've booked 3 trips and never been asked for my card number.

We were asked for our number.
I know not having to renew seems like a money saver right now, but believe me, having AAA can be the bigger money saver. We just got it in January, and a few weeks later I went in the ditch. I'll never NOT have AAA again. Worth every penny.
It's kind of like health insurance...if nothing happens, that's great and you really wouldn't have needed it...but once you really need it...

AAA has saved my bacon more than once...and on our most recent trip (8/26-9/3) absolutely paid off in spades.

We drove to WDW from Jersey. On the drive home, just an hour from our night's stop in Florence SC, we blew a tire at 70mph. Hubby had no trouble getting the car off the road, but it was getting late (7:15pm) and we'd never changed the tire on this car before. Plus, I'm not a fan of changing tires on the side of the interstate, two kids, blah blah.

Anyway, the SC Highway Patrolman who pulled up behind us almost immediately offered to call in AAA for me, as she said they'd come faster if she called. Sure enough, within one hour our tire was changed and we were on our way to the hotel. If I'd had to pay for that service call (Saturday night of a holiday weekend) I have to believe it would have been at least $125...more than the cost of my AAA membership!

If they want the number now (and many hotels, not just WDW, have asked for the number ahead of time when I've made ressie's) get the membership now and enjoy the peace of mind right away.

There is also a great show your card and save program. We save more than the cost of membership every year without using it at WDW.

I am in the category that was not asked for the my membership number. Which is a good thing because I didn't join until after I knew that rooms with the AAA discount were available.

The printed copy of the reservation has the infamous words: "AAA membership card required at check-in for discount"

It seems to depend on who's answering the phones at CRO. I've booked AAA 4x this year. For Jan. and July they asked for my AAA number while I was on the phone, for Oct. and Dec (just a couple of days ago) they did not, but said I needed to show it at check in. Maybe cause I've been so often this year and they know I've already gotten the discount? :confused3 AAA has been a great investment for us!

they asked for the number when I called. I didn't have it on me, so I had to call back later that day with the number.

When I call... sometimes they ask... and sometimes they don't. But when we check in at the resort, they never ask, but I am always ready to present my card to them.

We booked our room in April '05 for this October. I was asked for our AAA number. I have had AAA for many years and have booked at Disney quite a few times. I am not always asked for my number, and have never been asked to show the card, but always have it just in case.

AAA has saved us quite a bit of money not only on Disney hotels, but many others, as well as towing fees, travelers check fees(none), Discounts from participating merchants (ie..payless shoes). AAA is a great thing to have.

43 days till we leave for our 30th Anniversary Tour - 4 nights on the Wonder and a few days at PO-R

I've always had to give my number when making the reservation. Good luck!

I'm not sure I understand the aversion to joining AAA. Even if everybody has brand new cars, it's still possible to get a flat tire, or to <ahem> lock one's keys in the car by removing them from the ignition and placing them carefully on the passenger seat... or to need to avail yourself of any of the other services and discounts AAA offers.

AAA doesn't just cover your car, but it covers you. If you're in a friends car that breaks down, AAA will honor your card if you're an occupant of the car. Included in your membership, they also give great discounts, tour guide books, maps, etc...

One of the most overlooked features that AAA performs is that they fight for us legally. AAA lobbys and stands up for us in our legislature for us, the automobile consumer.

By the way, I'm just a 45 year member because I was grandfather'd in from my parent's account. I'm NOT that OLD!!
