One big advantage of booking through a TA that hasn't been mentioned......
What happens with a cancelled flight while away?
Flights can be cancelled for various reasons (weather, strike, airlines going out of business, etc). Having a TA will take away the responsibility of having to re-book a flight on your own. There could be a lot of wasted time from your vacation researching alternate flights, making phone calls to re-book, etc.
