Book suggestions for a nonreader

I didn't like Girl on the Train either. I couldn't even finish it. For me it was the writing style and lack of action.
I like thriller and suspense novels and they have to grab me in the first chapter. I've read several books by Kendra Elliot and those are good, plus there's some romance in them.
For non-fiction, Lean In is a great read.

I am going to second Orphan Train. If you are not a huge reader, this one is good, but an easier read than some. If you haven't read The Help yet, it is one my favorites and not a hard read.

Yes, The Help. I remember looking at it so many times at the bookstore, reading the description on the jacket and just not getting why it was so popular. Then my Book Club voted to read it, so I got it (on Kindle). Wow, it was great. That jacket did it no favors. Since I'm the one that suggested The Orphan Train, I'd have to agree with you. Such an interesting (and mostly unknown) part of US History told in a great novel form.

The audio book is actually even better. I don't do well with audio books, but this one was so good, using a different voice for each of the different narrators.

I really appreciate all of these suggestions and I will be sure to take a look at each one.

Just to give an update, I've downloaded a sample of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and started it last night and I'm really enjoying it so far. So thank you all!

This is one of my favorite nonfiction books, but just as an FYI, I didn't realize until the end that there was a glossary at the end of the book. It would have been helpful with some of the technical language. I also love Unbroken for nonfiction. The book is so much better than the movie.
