The Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace may interest her. They span the author's childhood to young adulthood in the transition from the 1800s to WW1. A charming series originally published in the 1940s so shouldn't present any objectionable topics.
Definitely the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery. Similar timeframe as Betsy-Tacy but set on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Much better than most videos of the original book.
Did you know that Mary Poppins is actually the first book of 4 by Pamela Travers? I warn you, though, that Travers's character scarcely resembles Julie Andrews's portrayal. For that reason, I've never liked the Disney movie. Emily Blunt's performance is somewhat more like the real Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins in the books is self-satisfied and haughty while Jane and Michael are much more realistic and sometimes very badly behaved as children can easily be.
