Book now or wait

I'm planning for a trip next March. I've invited extended family and they are interested, but need to determine if they can come up with the money. I asked for an answer by August, before the seven month window opens. I've decided our family is going whether they join us or not. I'm providing DVC rooms Sun-Thurs nights and we will move to another resort for the weekend. I would get a 2 bedroom for my family and a 2 bedroom for the extended family if they all come or a 1 bedroom if only the girls come.

I would like to stay at BCV if possible or OKW for the larger rooms and lower points. I own at VWL. My question is whether you think I should reserve a 2 bedroom at VWL now (my 11 month window is just opening up - calling Monday I can reserve the whole stay) and then try to switch around at the 7 month window or just wait until the 7 month window? I don't want to reserve both rooms now as I will have to borrow points to do so and I don't want to borrow points if they are not going.

What would you do?

As long as you won't be borrowing points, go ahead and book it. I can't think of a good reason not to.

I would book now and give the family a "drop dead commit date" to allow you time to modify your plan if need be.

I went ahead and booked a 2 bed at VWL today. I'll try for BCV or OKW at 7 months and add the second 2 bed if family is coming. DN is definately exicted and since they got a good refund, it looks like it may be possible for them.
