Book now or wait for free dining (if it comes out)?

I have a chance to book through AA Vacations right now and secure the flights, room, etc., that we want but if free dining is offered in a couple of months for our trip dates (Sept. 27 - Oct. 4) then I'd prefer that. AA Vacations doesn't allow you to cancel or revise w/o a penalty so I'm not sure what we should do. Any thoughts? :confused3

Well. if you book now and free dining does come out you will be kicking yourself about not being able to change. What I would do is book a room only directly with Disney to hold the room you want. I'm not sure how to handel the airfare though. Is there a significant savings if you book everything togeter through AA?

Yes, there appears to be but I'm working right now on pricing everything out individually to see how it adds up. I like the idea of holding the room through Disney and may do that. Thanks for that idea.

I just priced our vacation package out multiple ways - a la carte, various websites, AA vacations and directly through Disney. They are all within about $200 of each other (not much when the total is around $6000) so I would be stupid not to book w/Disney since they will most likely come out w/new codes that will decrease the overall price (compared to many of the sites that won't let you adjust your reservation once you've made it). I think I'll book a room only reservation and then hope for a good code soon! :)

I think that is a great decision! You might want to lock in your airfare though, if it is a good rate. I fly out of Los Angeles, so I can almost always find a decent option, but I would hate for you to miss out on cheap airfare!

I would normally agree with you except that we have some unique circumstances in this case. My friend and her daughter would be using airline miles for their flight so cost isn't an issue and the mileage is always the same for domestic flights. In my case, we might be moving so I think I'll hold out and see where we should book flights. If I had booked the vacation package now, I would have booked all plane tickets from the city where my friend lives which happens to be located right between where I live now and where we might move but since I'm not booking it now, I'll just see how the chips fall and book when I know more.

Thanks for your reply. :)
