We just returned Christmas day and decided this is now our new Dec tradition but we will do it at least one week earlier due to crowds. My ? is, should we go ahead and book now or hang in there and hope for the great AP deal we got this year? AND, if we book now is it still possible to change our ressie and get the AP discount if they are offered for the time we are there?

I would book and keep checking rates in case a lower rate is available.

I agree with chipster. We always book one year out. Gives us something to look forward to and that way we know we have a reservation and ARE GOING.

If codes come out - then that is icing on the cake. We have been fortunate enough for the last few years to take advantage of the codes thanks to finding Mousesavers = Mary.

Last year we had to add one night to our stay at the AKL since we got such a good rate for Concierge.

So they do let you switch around if codes come out for the room you have booked - it just takes a little work.

I always book our July stay one year out, but I booked our December stay at the end of this past July. I had no problem getting the room we wanted (and there are only 10 of them) and I switched to an AP rate when the rates were released with no problem.

If you book a "room only" rate now, and pay one night's deposit, then change to an AP rate later on, do they refund the difference to your CC? Can they apply it towards your overall stay?

Also, if you booked two or three resorts for a long stay, is that considered one large reservation or are they separate? It would be nicer to pay one night's deposit rather than two or three.

condorman--Your deposit will apply to the new AP rate reservation if you have a room only ressie. As for your second question, each resort will be a separate reservation, thereby requiring separate deposits for each. Sorry!

To the OP--We always book one year out. We returned from our annual Dec. trip on the 13th and have already made our reservations for Dec. 2004! I always start out with a AAA rate then switch to an AP rate if possible. So far, I have been successful for the past three years.

To answer your question... I switch my ressie around several times. The last time they told me they were transferring the money to my new reservation and it got messed up. The deposit I had left on the previous reservation got credited back to my credit card instead of getting transfered, so I had to call and leave another deposit.

When I called the other day, the CM told me I didnt need to leave a deposit because my deposit was transfered, I lefted another deposit because in all reality it was transfered back to my credit card.
Confusion Confusion, It should be interesting to see what happens upon check in.
