If I book now , and I find it cheaper later, can I change the reservation. Right now I can get 336 a night for a MK view at the Contempory. Is that a good rate. This is for either Sept. or 1 week in Dec.

yes you can as long as you cancel within the time frame cancelations are allowed. Sometimes you can get a really nice CM & they will just change the rate for you... others will have you cancel & rebook. It you have to do it that way, rebook FIRST then cancel or you can loose your room totally!

How did you get that rate? (336 per night for a MK view at the Contemporary? Was that for a tower room, or was it for one of the other two buildings?

I am thinking of staying at the Contemporary in December myself, but would want to stay in the tower, as staying in one of the other buildings would defeat my purpose ... to have the monorail handy. (The rate for a MK view room in the Tower seems to be over 500 per night, which seems a bit steep to me.)

In Value season (January 1 - February 14, July 8 - October 3, November 25 - December 19) it is actually $395 a night, plus tax. Sounds like the OP has an AAA discount.
