Those cakes are great, and I now really want cake.

Sadly, it is all gone.

Looks like you had a fun 4th of July! Funny... we almost ended up at the ER on the 4th for a split lip. Zach & Alex were playing "tackle basketball" in Alex's bedroom. Alex's face hit the wall & with the new braces... well you ge the idea. My nurse friend stopped by on her way to do some errands & didn't think it was bad enough for stitches so we let it go. Luckily it's healed up pretty good - it was awfully swolen and bruised for a couple days but it's looking pretty good now.

I never thought it needed stitches, although it was really deep, but was worried about infection. What is weird is that I just wasn't thinking clearly at all. I was having him wash and disinfect it like crazy and treating with ibupofen for the pain but didn't even think to take him in to get antibiotics. DOH. I couldn't tell what was maybe dead tissue and what might be infection, I felt better when the ER doc couldn't tell either! Definitely made me feel better about waiting but the decision to do so will likely cost me a bundle.

I hope you get your 2 bathroom doors!

Me too! Seems silly to worry about I know but it will make a huge difference in the quality of stay.

Love those cakes! The ship cake and the wave cake our great! The black cake is priceless!!:rotfl2:

:cool1:

I love it as things get close because well, it seems to fly!

Trying to think of everything I’ve done but I don’t think it’s all that much lol. A couple of key things.

1. Make “checks” for the kids from the souvenir gods. LOL! The souvenir gods are an unpredictable lot that may or may not grant funds on any trip we take. If and when they do, the kids are alerted as to the amount at the beginning of the trip and then they can budget accordingly. I decided to break it out this time so they will get 2 checks. One for the first part and then 2 for the surprise. For Alaska they each got $50 and honestly it seemed almost a little high but then again $5 tshirts from port stores will make it stretch pretty far. This time, a longer trip, I’m doing $40 for the front part and $20 for the AK part.

2. Purchase the Dining Plan for the AK portion. I crunched it again and it does work out better than TIW for this trip and frankly, is easier.

3. Added an on board credit to cover some planned expenses like Palo and Kendall’s birthday treat at Chill Spa. I love having stuff prepaid for so that end cruise bill isn’t a killer.

4. Pre purchased a shutters photo package. I went a little cheap here as they are SO expensive and you can’t get the smaller package on the ship. Of course this means there better be at least 5 pictures I like. The onboard package I got last summer was for 10 and I struggled to fill 10 on the 7 day cruise so I'm thinking 5 should be perfect.

5. Booked more rental cars. LOL! I booked one for our one day return trip at $52 (was $75) in a different vehicle category. I also booked a back up for the 3 days at Vero with a different agency, it's $5 more but is a backup. I have paranoia about going to pick up these rental cars and the coupon codes I have not being honored. Call it contingency planning! I realize I am being entirely neurotic about this piece. :rotfl: I’m not quite sure what time to schedule the car for pickup after the cruise though, seems to me we didn’t get off till about 9:30 last time as breakfast took FOREVER but dunno. If I book it for 9 and we don’t get there till 9:30…will I lose my cheap car?

6. Decided to forgo the idea of Cali grill. Conceptually I love it. Cost wise, for 5, not so much.

7. Tweaked the budget some more. A few things I’d forgotten to account for (isn’t there always!!) made it in. Bell services tips, rental $$ for Vero (loungers/umbrella), etc. Which means I picked up more Disney gift cards so I could save more on gas! LOL. Actually filled my tank at $2.99/gallon this week thanks to my gift card purchases which was pretty darn exciting. Next fill should be the same. Pathetic to do a happy dance over that but, there you have it! I did also budget for a lunch on arrival day as if our villa isn’t ready, at some point, we will have to bite the bullet and eat, so EOS could happen, as could eating by the pool in some fashion though EOS sounds SO much more tasty. Which may mean I ordered too much lunch meat but oh well.

8. Printed many of our docs. I kind of blew it and didn’t do online check in for the ship as early as I could have which got us a later boarding time, oops. Not awful though and it does mean we don’t have to rush out the door of Vero super early, which is good.

9. Tweaked the packing list. Added a few things to my shopping in Vero list (Via, air freshener for the ship lol) and a insulated tote to haul things from OKW to Vero and Vero to the ship as needed.

10. Worked on our FE gifts. I am mostly done, just a couple of small things to finish and then will do the rest of it down there to make packing it up easier. I will post pics in the TR as I'd like to keep them a surprise.

11. Ordered new RX sunglasses! Ok, that was not a need just very much a want and they are so darn cute. I am hoping they come in tomorrow so I have them for the weekend.

AngeliqueS0FU8Y7.jpg

12. Bought a couple new tops and some workout shorts. Now that the sun is out here I decided I didn’t really want to pack my heavier workout wear. I confess, it has been rewarding to be trying on smaller sizes these days!

Ok maybe I have done a few things!

Unrelated to the trip but slightly humorous, Eric had 2 teeth pulled earlier this week. This is to get him ready for braces though we decided to wait on them for 6 months – year to let the adult teeth come in and hopefully a few more baby ones pulled out. He was rather obsessed with how it would feel before, and then had this communication with me after (as he really couldn’t talk with gauze in his mouth).

a43d5fa0.jpg

On the less humorous side I am still struggling with my stupid neck. Had a full on pity party for myself last night. Started seeing a new chiropractor this week who specializes in active release. Which in many ways is a fancy workaround to the fact that my insurance will not cover therapeutic massage as much of that is in fact active release work. I am really hoping this will help, she thinks it will but it won’t be quick. Of COURSE it won’t be quick. So we will see. Current plan is to go to her for a couple of weeks and see her in-office trainer and then probably go back to the PT I’ve been seeing as basically I can’t seem to strengthen anything…until I can get it to relax. HAH! Actually it’s kind of funny as generally speaking I don’t think of myself as being at a high stress level. Perhaps because I just store it all in my neck and leave it there. I’m discouraged to say the least as I’ve been trying to resolve it since October but I guess I’ll just focus on the silver lining that at least I’ve gotten more in shape during the process, even if my head does feel like you could just snap it off my body. Struggling with the eyes too, trying some new drops and if those don’t work we may test out collagen plugs. UGH that just sounds icky. LOL. Good news is that they “should” be much better during the trip, the humidity really helps them, or at least it did on the last 2 trips.

What's left to do? A few things.

Most notably, and this is in Jeff's court, get Kendall some state ID! We'd thought that she'd be getting her learners permit, which would work perfectly but as she's not actually enrolled in drivers ed, that won't work. So a state card will have to do. With a soccer crazed weekend I am paranoid it will not happen this weekend. And honestly, it was to. Jeff leaves a week from Sunday and she's gone next weekend at a tournament anyway. It is probable that the plastic card won't arrive in time even if they do go tomorrow (the plan) and for some reason, traveling with the paper version (though it says it should be ok since there isn't a border crossing involved) makes me incredibly nervous.

I have a haircut scheduled for next week. I'd love to get a mani/pedi but not sure I'll be able to fit it in and as the pool/salt water would erode the mani part rather quickly, am not sure it's really worth it.

I do plan to make a little gift bag for each kid with their pins and "checks" and also make K a couple of gift certificates for the spa and the backstage safari.

I'm sure there is something else I'm forgetting but in the meantime, it's awfully fun loading up my pretty Vera wristlet that Tracy gave on our girls trip last year!

574a28aa.jpg

I've also had fun loading up my carryon/camera bag, which currently has all our docs, camera, and a wristlet full of disney goodness! It also has (thanks to Heidi I think) a bag with enough quarters and penny's for each kid to do 2 pressed pennies. I may make cute bags for those or, rather, just tell them in the card and hang on to them. I love my camera bag!

BEL004TEAL-2.jpg

BEL004TEAL-6.jpg

You wouldn't believe all it holds! You can configure it any way you want. I got it last year for Alaska and it was amazing!

BEL004TEAL-7.jpg

BEL004TEAL-5.jpg

No, that's not my stuff in it, stock pics that I stole. I've been known to cram even more in there, including a sweater, jacket or scarf for the plane and the kitchen sink. Not to mention it's got lots of lovely outside pockets and a full shoulder strap which I do use for the plane when it's fully loaded.

Last but not least... I couldn't help myself. While buying the kids pins...I got a few more for my park bag (which will be packed and pulled out once I get there). I don't "do" lanyards but do like having a few on my park bag! Some of these I will trade, or let the kids trade but some are just for me because well, I like them!

b01362af.jpg

Darn picture doesn't want to stay rotated. I hate that!

Which meant of course Jeff needed a new one too! He has 4 on his daypack, in fact, he started the trend! He's getting 2 more news ones along with the kids lol.

That was Julie with the pressed pennies.

Sounds like you are READY !

Congratulations on being down to the final stages of preparedness. And you are right, the last two weeks go so darn fast. :cool1:

I always carry two car reservations too. Just in case. I was really worried about that last Alamo reservation I had in June, because it was so darn cheap. So I kept a backup one just in case. Just for the record - I rent a car almost every time we go and I have never seen a code not honored. So relax.

I love your camera bag. Almost too pretty to be a camera bag, but it looks quite roomy. And easy for bag check. Nice!

I had you get the state ID thing all worked out. I'm sure you'll be fine.

It is, honestly I can't see us staying at BLT any time soon as the studios are too tiny for 4 and the points too high for anything else so at least we will get to see it. Eric is DYING to stay there so it will be fun for to have a night there, we've never done more than walk through it for the monorail or boat!

Knowing nothing of DVC, I didn't know it was so costly to stay there. It makes sense, I suppose. Wonder why they made the studios so small, though?

Well as I understand it, OKW was the first DVC location and they just really weren't thinking. They realized their mistake and added a 2nd access in the 2nd phase of it. I didn't know that SSR had the same issue, I thought they all had access through the laundry room as well (which is weird in and of itself lol). I think the other villas don't have the same large laundry room? Interesting about SSR as the online floor plans show dual access.

Thinking back now, I believe you're right. I do remember something weird about the set-up, though. There are lot of doors in a very small space, that's for sure.

I love it as things get close because well, it seems to fly!

Yes, it does. ::yes:: Unfortunately, that means I'm that much closer to my summer break being over, as I essentially go back as soon we get back, and haven't gotten as much school work done as I thought I would. Isn't that always the way, though? I'm going to try and make up for it today and Monday, though.

I was finally able to convince some of my family to five Max Disney gfitcards for this birthday. There is very little that he needs, but I love the idea of him getting to figure out what he really wants at Disney, and then being held to a certain amount of money. In February all he wanted was a monorail set, so I told him to really think about it until the end of the trip, but that he could look around point out things he might want. Cut down on the whining almost completely.

6. Decided to forgo the idea of Cali grill. Conceptually I love it. Cost wise, for 5, not so much.

We're lucky that way; we only have to pay for one. Who's still very much ordering off the kids' menu. :rotfl:

Tweaked the budget some more.

Yup...thus my final ADR adjustments.

11. Ordered new RX sunglasses! Ok, that was not a need just very much a want and they are so darn cute. I am hoping they come in tomorrow so I have them for the weekend.

AngeliqueS0FU8Y7.jpg

I love these! I, too, need prescription sunglasses. I can never get over how expensive they are and don't quite get why they're always more costly than my regular glasses.

Ok maybe I have done a few things!

Yes, you have! Certainly a lot more than I have, but I have a pretty straight forward trip.

Sorry to hear about your neck still being a pain. That's not fun at all.

I have a haircut scheduled for next week. I'd love to get a mani/pedi but not sure I'll be able to fit it in and as the pool/salt water would erode the mani part rather quickly, am not sure it's really worth it.

I get my hair done next week, too! Yay! I'm going for my pre-trip nail appointment this afternoon. I can't believe I'm doing that already. :cool1:
However, I smartened up this time and am going for the pedi well before the trip. I usually went the day before and found out that that's not the best plan. I need those callouses! :rotfl:

Nice bags! I ordered a new park bag, although not the one I posted pictures of on FB. I decided it wouldn't go with enough of my outfits. :rotfl: Love your idea of putting your pins on your bag, though. I might try that, too, as I'm not a huge fan of the lanyard.

Happy two weeks! :beach: I'll put that smilie in because the Dis keeps rearranging them for reasons I fail to understand.

oops! Loved the idea so thanks Scrappie! LOL

Just for the record - I rent a car almost every time we go and I have never seen a code not honored. So relax.

We never rent cars, for us it's kind of the whole point...NO driving. No parking, no trams, no hot seats and letting the car air out, no worrying about adult beverages. If there was a way to avoid it this trip, we would! I'd honestly prefer to be taking the bus back from the ship to AKV but it is SO much more expensive it's insane! On the positive side this will let us pick up some groceries if we want for those last couple of days. Nice to hear they've always been honored, I'm stressing about the pickup time at the port and thinking I need to change it to 9:30 or even 10? WAY overthinking it I know. Right now I have a budget and an avis for the first part and then 2 different ones with avis for the 2nd.

I love your camera bag. Almost too pretty to be a camera bag, but it looks quite roomy. And easy for bag check. Nice!

These guys make the coolest bags, they don't look like camera bags at all. I think they've sold another 2-3 to other people who liked mine and then got one for themselves. Mine is actually one of their smaller styles, my mom got one that is quite a bit bigger and just loves it. Her camera is bigger, as are her lenses and she just carries a bunch more gear. I doubt I'll take it into the parks ever though honestly as the camera will fit in my Vera backsack for touring and that's just a lot less to carry, which works for me. But for flying and in the car, on the ship etc I really like having the big bag and it works twofold as camera bag and carryon.

I had you get the state ID thing all worked out. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Yeah I wish I felt that confident about it. I feel like Jeff is getting led around by his nosehairs lately when it comes to K and am a bit frustrated to say the least. Until I see that card, I won't relax.

Knowing nothing of DVC, I didn't know it was so costly to stay there. It makes sense, I suppose. Wonder why they made the studios so small, though?

Well the points on the studios aren't bad actually but because they are tiny, it isn't something I see us using. They are funky layouts due to the curved nature of the building. A 1 bedroom would be fine but the points are a lot higher than elsewhere, unless you own there and can get the cheaper booking category. However, if I was going to stay there I'd want at least a lake view anyways so the cheaper category doesn't even appeal to me. LOL!

Thinking back now, I believe you're right. I do remember something weird about the set-up, though. There are lot of doors in a very small space, that's for sure.

It will be kind of fun to see 3 different 1 bedroom villas in the same trip. I wish the AKV one was at Jambo with the 2nd bath but maybe it's just as well that I don't know what we are missing. :rotfl:

Yes, it does. ::yes:: Unfortunately, that means I'm that much closer to my summer break being over, as I essentially go back as soon we get back, and haven't gotten as much school work done as I thought I would. Isn't that always the way, though? I'm going to try and make up for it today and Monday, though.

It is always the way, our summer just started so it's hard to imagine kids going back yet but it will be here before I know it.

I've found it to be a double edged sword. Sometimes they are very good about the budgeting and holding onto it and spending it wisely. Other times it is burning a hole in their pocket and all they want to do is go shop.

At least with the boys. K seems to care less about spending it, which is wierd but that's how it's been in the past.

I love these! I, too, need prescription sunglasses. I can never get over how expensive they are and don't quite get why they're always more costly than my regular glasses.

Really? I find they cost less. My challenge is that I need progressives so while I have 2 other RX sunglasses, they don't have the progressives and it makes them kind of worthless (as I'll "read" under the lens to look at a book, phone, map or whatever), which is really sad...and hurts my neck/gives me a headache. The progressive lens really kicks up the cost but regular ones actually cost more once you add in the AR and Scratch coating and with the tinting I don't have to spend as much on coatings and skip the polarized. I keep having them quote me pricing on lenses only as I have a ton of super cute frames...that need progressive lenses and it costs as much for the lens only, as it did for this new pair of sunglasses. I can use them but really only for driving or TV or a movie and don't try to look at my phone or anything printed, which just isn't practical. Actually the sunglasses came in less. Kind of funny, I was at the doc as my eyes have been awful to see what they could do. Bad timing on my part, right after the 4th, they had a bunch of emergencies in there with folks that had injuries from fireworks. Which left me too much time to look at stuff in the shop and get pricing. I found one pair I liked but...end total was over the amount i had in mind. While waiting, saw another pair behind the opticians desk. Different colors but they pulled up what was available, ordered the sample in for me and voila! Amazing how a frame being $30 less put me over the edge into ordering mode.

LOL!

However, I smartened up this time and am going for the pedi well before the trip. I usually went the day before and found out that that's not the best plan. I need those callouses! :rotfl:

SO true! I gave myself a pedi last weekend so may just be content with that. They are presentable at least. :rotfl:

I know, I can't find my normal smilies, ugh. Neither bag is new, the backsack is my standard park bag and it's perfect for that. I don't use it much otherwise but it will be perfect. The camera bag is a rockstar, a very good purchase for traveling. I will be bringing a tote bag as well that will work as our pool bag and then a couple of wristlets but no real "purse". Kind of fun, the tote was my "welcome" gift to DVC and it's a really nice waterproof style one that actually zips closed on the top and folds up super small so is perfect.

Wow! You have been one busy lady with everything you have gotten done lately! :goodvibes

Love the glasses and the camerabag! I only use a point and shoot (Tom carries the DSLR in its HUGE case), but I could be persuaded to carry one like yours. ;)

As to comment on you not wanting to drive. Here is where we differ. ;):lmao:
For us driving is part of the fun (but then this is part of the experience as we don't have some of the same cars you have here) and especially since we mostly rent convertables.

Your trip is shaping up so nicely and only two more weeks to go! :thumbsup2 Cannot wait for your trip report (even though I will miss the start of it, being on vacation myself). ;)

Great update, Cynthia. I was excited when I realized we leave nine weeks from tomorrow (assuming we still go), and look at you at two weeks. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

It seems as if everything is coming together smoothly.

I'm sorry to hear you are still having neck problems. I woke up with a really painful neck on Monday and it still hurts; I'm going to buy a new pillow this weekend as I think it has a lot to do with my pillow.

Love E's note for the mac and cheese. :)

I can relate. I really didn't want a huge camera, or bag however my point and shoot just wasn't giving me the results I wanted. I settled somewhere in the middle, on a micro four thirds. Which is basically a very small DSLR. With the small lens, it fits in my purse if I need it to but has the flexibility of other lenses and options. Not that I know what I'm doing with it lol! I have a LOT of work to do on inside shots but it is definitely an improvement over the point and shoot. I also have a very tiny camera bag backpack and I do use that if I take the camera on a hike instead. I won't be bringing it on this trip though.

I feel like I spend half my life chained to the car, I love having a break from it and letting someone else do the driving, even if it takes me longer. Our last experience with a convertible was a nightmare, we'd rented one in Hawaii and while snorkeling, it was broken into by someone cutting through the top. Nothing even in it to steal but OUCH it was expensive. It turned into a big hassle as I'd rented it, but Jeff paid for it with a card in his name and as a result we had major issues getting it covered. We've never made that mistake again (or rented a convertible since lol).

So you will, you aren't far away either!

assuming you still go????????????? Oh no, did I miss something????

Love E's note for the mac and cheese. :)

Other than the ID card it is coming along well. A good pillow can help a ton, I've definitely invested in those as well as a new bed, I'd probably be unable to move without them.

Eric wanted chili mac at the time but I was concerned it wasn't "soft" enough, hence his agreeing that plain would be ok. LOL

Woo Hoo! You are doing great!
I feel for you with the neck pain. I've started with a chiro for my problems with my neck too, and I'm not sure how much it's helping, but it's only been less than 2 weeks. I have to be more diligent in doing what I'm supposed to do, especially since my job counteracts all the good chiro does!

Do you have a picture of your Vera backsack? I suppose I could go look at the website, but that might be too tempting.

What does your job do that counteracts? Just curious. Parts of my job don't help that's for sure but the bigger issue is really years of history and posture and the original injury where all the symptoms still point to being the root cause.

They don't actually make backsacks any more, which are really more like a sports cinch sack I guess. It's what I like about it, much smaller and lighter. Now they only make backpacks. I don't think they made them when I got mine, I found it on ebay for super cheap, like $12 or something :thumbsup2

The hanging picture had all of this inside it, to give you an idea of what it holds, I was just testing to see what fit when I first got it, it's not actually stuff I put in it these days but I'm guessing it's what I had in it for our DCA trip which is about when I bought it.

IMG_3838.jpg

I did see it on ebay for about $30 and there were several other patterns in varying price ranges (mine is cambridge). For me it's the perfect park bag. Not too big, not too small, and easily worn on one shoulder or held in my lap, or in one of the ride bins.

It's funny how much you can find to put in an update when you least expect it! LOL!

Hey, your mention of Via on your Vero grocery list reminded me...I had Via most days but I tried the Nescrape they have out in the mornings in the Inn and thought that it tasted okay. Please check it out and tell me if I'm crazy.

I think I had something more to comment on, but can't remember now, so I may have to come back!

Almost time to go!!! :cool1:

Alex has to have a couple permanent teeth pulled - hopefully in August before school starts. It's going to be ugly! I'm not sure why they are doing it after his braces went on (last month) but I suppose it's easy enough to take out the wire long enough for the surgery. :confused3

Sorry your neck is still bothering you... but I don't think I knew about the eyes. What's going on with them? My eyes are always bugging me... usually too dry. I've never been able to deal with contact lenses because of it. But speaking of eyes - I love the new sunglasses!! :thumbsup2

Good luck getting all of the last minute stuff done. It'll be here before you know it!

Cynthia - my job is a lot of time sitting at a computer, and while it's not bad ergonomically (the best I can get), it's my posture and not taking breaks that hurts it. Plus the rest of the time I sit and am looking down at taking notes and it's not usually ergonomic. So it aggravates my already improperly curved neck!

Thanks for the info on the bag - I like it! I might have to go see what's on eBay!

Oh - on the teeth pulling -braces thing. Sarah had her braces put on in January. That day was when they told us they wanted to pull four permanent teeth! I was mad, since they didn't include the cost in the estimate so my flex spending account ends up short for the year. So they put the braces on and just left them off the teeth they were going to pull. The wire was not across those teeth until the appointment after the pulling. They pulled them about two weeks later and now, 6 months into it, those spaces are already being closed up! It's really amazing how fast they move! She sure looks a lot different from pictures at Christmas time!

It all depends on what happens with my MIL...she is not doing good and they may stop treatments.

So sorry Kathy !! :flower3:

Cynthia as always you have my head spinning !!!I am waiting for my flight details for Universal and Disney , should have them very soon they are all booked I just don't have the details yet !!

It's funny how much you can find to put in an update when you least expect it! LOL!

Isn't that the truth! Guess I'm not quite as lazy as I think I am

:rotfl:

Hey, your mention of Via on your Vero grocery list reminded me...I had Via most days but I tried the Nescrape they have out in the mornings in the Inn and thought that it tasted okay. Please check it out and tell me if I'm crazy.

It's funny, originally I had planned to pick up our Via here at Costco, thinking it would be a huge savings, and then pack it. When I checked it was $15.99 for 24, of columbia, that's all they had. I'd rather have the italian roast. At the grocery store it was like $6.99 for 8 I think, so clearly Costco a much better deal and I resigned myself to drinking Columbia. Then I realized that it's $9.99 for 12 at Starbucks directly and according to my app, there ais one in Vero and multiples on the way to the port. Jeff was whining about wanting some of the carmel flavored icky stuff so I figured we will get it there and can each get what we want and the extra $4 is worth not dealing with packing another food item. I have a pound of coffee in our grocery order that is coming to OKW so we will be using that at Vero, and AKV as well but need Via for the ship. I'm actually excited about the new shopping service, not really saving $$ but since it is so personalized I think I'm down to only 2 food items I need to pack and if I forget either or both, we'd live.

I will do a taste test of what they have out at Vero though and let you know!

I think I had something more to comment on, but can't remember now, so I may have to come back!

That happens to me all the time!! Like I should go back and count Judy's since Jill appears to have been wrong. :rotfl:

Almost time to go!!! :cool1:

Alex has to have a couple permanent teeth pulled - hopefully in August before school starts. It's going to be ugly! I'm not sure why they are doing it after his braces went on (last month) but I suppose it's easy enough to take out the wire long enough for the surgery. :confused3

The whole thing is a racket if you ask me. We had 2 consults.

1st wanted to do a herbst and an expander now, full braces after all his adult teeth fell out (he had 4-6 still to go). But if I committed to only the first part now, the whole thing would cost $1500 more. Didn't mention teeth coming out at all.

2nd mentioned 2 teeth needed to come out now so the adults behind it had a chance at coming in straight, and gave a very low quote for braces now, after the extractions. Jeff was at that one, I was at the hospital with my dad. I don't know if Jeff missed it but their paperwork wasn't clear and so when I called it turned out that what they were actually proposing was a 2 phase process. Teeth out and partial braces now so he could start addressed the overbite with bands and then full braces later when all the baby teeth had come out, probably a year from now. Or, alternatively, just pull the teeth now and then wait until all the rest of the teeth came out and do full braces then. On that one it cost more to do it in 2 phases versus waiting so...we waited.

I felt a bit like the 2nd one gave us false advertising on the cost as they didn't show us the cost for phase 2 and the 1st one wanted to do a much more invasive, uncomfortable approach with possibly an item he didn't need at all (the expander). At the end of the day we yanked 2 teeth and go back in for an eval in 6 months but we are likely a year away from the actual braces but will do the full thing all at once.

I have severe dry eye, apparently I don't make tears and what little I do are of poor quality. Kind of like dumping water on your eye. I take a medicated drop twice a day but they've been really bad the past 4 months or so, actually flaring up around when the forehead excema showed up. And it is all related. They've got me trying a 2nd rx drop in conjunction with the twice a day one (they do different things) and if that doesn't help (data is inconsistent so far, it's been a week) we may try collagen plugs or permanent plugs. Since my tears aren't "good" tears, those may not help at all but might be worth trying.

Basically they are dry (dead actually as the cells aren't regenerating thanks to the lack of tears) and it feels like they are on fire, or I stayed up too late reading, or I've been crying non stop. It hurts and when the bad flare ups happen (the burning) it's very scary if I am driving. It's better though than when it first started back in 2007/08, took me a good 4 months to figure out what was even going on and back then they were RED! I thought I looked like a vampire but when someone suggested that no, you look like you've been smoking something, it became a mission to get to the bottom of it.

The biggest bummer is that combine the neck with the stupid eyes and riding my bike is torture. And I really really miss it!

I'm too vain to get goggles. :rotfl:

Cynthia - my job is a lot of time sitting at a computer, and while it's not bad ergonomically (the best I can get), it's my posture and not taking breaks that hurts it. Plus the rest of the time I sit and am looking down at taking notes and it's not usually ergonomic. So it aggravates my already improperly curved neck!

Yeah, I have many of those same issues. My curve has improved but the tightness hasn't. I did find the PT to be more helpful for the posture, stretching than the chiro but if the new one can get any movement with the active tissue release then maybe we will get somewhere.

I'm off to the gym shortly and will spend at least 30 minutes trying to stretch myself out. It's a little sad when traction actually sounds appealing. :lmao:

Thanks for the info on the bag - I like it! I might have to go see what's on eBay!

I really love it. I also love how flat it is when empty so I can pack it and bring it along but not need it on the plane.

It's a racket!!! See my long rant to Amy above :rotfl:
