We want to book a Magic Western cruise in January 2005 using points. How do we book the cruise when the 2005 point schedule is not published yet?

did you call ms and ask when the new 2005 point chart is coming out, and when can you book.

i know someone had posted before about the 2005 point chart,

and i pretty sure the post was about that we are aloud to book 11 months out for the cruise, but no 2005 point chart out yet, and sone else posted that the chart will be out the middle of the summer to late summer for next spring

I plan on calling MS on Monday. I'm hoping I can book the cruise before the point schedule is published. I'm afraid if I wait till this summer the Navigator Verandahs will be gone.

You can book before the point schedule comes out. How they work that, I'm not sure.

Thanks. I'll find out how on Monday. If anyone is interested in the process I'll let you know after that....

thank you, that would be great, just remember when booking thru on points the $95 fee and you have to pay for the entire trip when you book. happy sailing!:boat: :boat:

How it worked in the pst is you essentially commited to the fee ($75, not $95) and the points NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY WENT UP with the new schedule.

OUCH! That could be painful. I'm going to have to take the chance. Does anyone know how much the points usually escalate?

It seems the total number of points needed for a cruise goes up every year. :(

Please do the math before using your points for a cruise. :teacher:

I did the math for my family of five and found it is much cheaper to pay cash. The price difference was rather hair raising. :scared1:

Anyway, no matter what you choose, happy sailing!:boat:

Remember also your points become 'reservation points' and cannot be used for DVC stays if you cancel your cruise - they could be used for Disney Collection
thanks

I don't think you will have to wait as long as it is rumored for the point schedule to come out. Last year it was out on March 3 but wasn't posted on the web site for a couple more weeks. Be patient for a while.

You're right about that. I remember when they had the big change a few years ago and some had committed and were very unhappy. Plus they could not backout without the penalty of reservation points. I'm wondering what would happen if one didn't have enough points when the time came.

The fee is now $95.00 no longer $75.00 - I called MS on Friday.
Things could have changed recently. They did raise the fee from $75 to $95 for the Concierge and adventurer collection but the DCL exchange price was the same $75. I've seen no indication otherwise of that fee being raised also but would not be surprised. Still, it would not be uncommon for a CM to incorrectly quote the fee as $95 when it should be $75.

I called MS on Feb 27 the day after our cruise. They told me it is $75. So apparently someone is giving out incorrect info at MS.

I am calling on March 22 to book our cruise(banked pts to use) for next Feb 20,2005 to get the discounted pts for booking on-board. I will let you know how much the fee is.

Three weeks ago when we were on a cruise at a member gathering they told us it was $75.00. So if it changed, it has to be very recent.

Well I booked the cruise. January 29 Western.

2004 Cat 7 would have been 370 points.
2005 Cat 7 is 426 points.

15% increase.

Next time I'll pay cash.

$75 fee to book.

Thanks for your help everyone....
