I still can't decide if I want to book club level, what are my chances of paying for it at check in? I'm going the first week of September which I believe is considered slow season.

Also, it's currently going to cost me $75 a night if I book now, will it be more at check in? Or is it possible it might be less? This is for Portofino Hotel

I always book Club at PBH at check-in and it has always been $75. The latest was this past July 4th which is peak time. I think you have a very good chance of being able to do it at check-in.

Thanks for the reply. That's reassuring, if you can book club in July at check -in, I'm sure there is a good chance for me to book in September. I was also concerned it would cost more at check in.

if the hotel occupancy is low, i don't think you will have a problem booking at check in.

i have seen prices range up to $100 more when adding club at check in.

but, like i said, if the occupancy is low, i'm sure they won't have it over $75 each night.

Club at PBH is different than at HRH and RPR. The lounge at PBH is off the lobby and not on a specific keyed floor. Therefore, they will pretty much allow guests to pay for club access as long as the number doesn't get high enough to cause a inconveniently packed lounge. I assume you would also receive a deluxe room somewhere in the Villa wing as all "club rooms" are technically just deluxe rooms with club access.

I'm arriving within the week and decided to call the front desk to inquire about an upgrade. I had the APH rate with a limited view and I inquired about an upgrade. They mentioned it was typically an additional $100 fee upon check-in. He checked for availability for an upgrade to club level and offered me the upgrade for $50/nite -- so I took it. Hopefully, I did not make a mistake.

$50/ night is a very good price for an upgrade to club. It all depends on what your total rate is with the uprade fee. Compare that with the the going rate if you booked a new ressie.

I called up the PBH and they told me they can only do upgrades at check-in. Is this true?

It really depends on who you talk to and how busy the hotel is.

We are just back from 6 nights at PBH. Club was $75 at check-in; would have been $80 if I had done it prior to arrival, so I saved $5/nt.

I mentioned at check-in that I knew others had been offered it for $50 per night and the gal said they had a new policy of no negotiating and it's a flat $75 per night. I was walking near the front desk on another day and heard them say the same thing to another guest checking in.

Thanks for sharing with all of us with that 411.

I guess the "old days" are now gone with the cheaper upgrade cost.

After I posted the above I read a later thread where RyGuy had posted that he checked in the same day we did (8/8) and was offered a $50 "discounted" rate on his club access. So now I am confusled! I guess take what I was told with a grain! :headache:

I am taking the chance in october that I can get club access for $50 bucks since it's only myself...

Perdita&Pongo,

I did check-in on 8/8 for the night and accepted the $50 upgrade. I mentioned a few members of upper management that I have corresponded with in the past. The guy checking me in went to the back and came back with the offer.

I have a couple quick questions after reading these posts? We are leaving in the beginning of November and we did get the meal deal. My question is IF they offer me a good upgrade to a club room should I keep the meal deal and get the club room? Or is it better not to get both? Which one is better or cheaper? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

oops...I forgot to mention that. We will be staying at the RPR for a week and we booked a standard room.
