Book accommodation first and then flights or vice versa??

Hi all,

Right we are deifinately all set to go to wdw next August.
At the moment i am patiently waiting to see if 2009's free disney dining plan coinsides with the dates i am looking to go. Once i know the dates i then have 2 options.

1) I can book the accommodation through wdw with free dining plan (fingers crossed) and then book flights at a later date

or

2) Book flights first and then book accomodation after.

There are pros and cons to both, if i book the accommodation first then i am tied down to specific flight dates, but.. if i wait until i get a good deal on flights then i could well miss out on the dining plan and the accommodation that i want (POP & POFQ)

what would you do????

Definitely book flights first, you will always be able to find accomodation.
The other way round could be more problematic, I just can't see booking where you will stay if you are not sure if you have a flight for the dates in question.

I aggree with Johnny definatly book flights first out of curiousity i have been looking at availability for august/september the same time we are going this year to try and get a rough price of what it would cost to book seperatly and have had no problems re availability at hotels etc even with only a month or so left to go. Also look at booking through wdw usa site as it seems to be a lot cheaper i was getting wilderness lodge on there at a little cheaper than the mods with the uk site.

Really, can you give me the website, i may have been checking the wrong one. When i was looking for this year the site i was looking on worked out about £40 dearer for a moderate hotel.

if your hopeing for free ddp for next year,would hold off booking flights till anouncements come out,as if its a diy holiday sheduled flights dont come out till 11 monts from return
So aug flights come out end sept
But the bounceback,uk offer and usa open free dinning have been for differnt dates for this year
Good luck on getting what you want,and if the romours are true,the appitizer and tip will be put back in,making free ddp an even better option

I alway book the flights first too
but if you get a good deal book the rooms you can always cancel with a full dpoiset up to so many days 45 I think with a package check before booking

Also look at buying an Annual pass to get a cheaper room rate and not getting the free DDP. Its not really free as you have to pay rack rate for the room.
I have a few days booked at Animal Kingdom Lodge this August, AP rate £82/night rack rate for free dining £138/night, no way will we spend £56/day on food.
Also ties you to Disney which is not our thing.
Moderates AP rate this August was $99/night, don't know what rate was for free DDP. Values only $64 lowest I have seen for a while.
Just another option.
