Book about the states of America?

Imlooking to eventually do a trip around America and am looking for a type of guide book that has a couple of pages on each state. Any one got any suggestions? Ox

Not to be mean, but that's kind of like asking for advice about a tour book on Europe with one or two pages about each country. Despite the common language and government, different states can have fairly different "flavors".

Sure, there are tons. Frommer's USA, Fodor's USA, Rough Guide USA, and also one specifically created for driving: Road Trip USA.

You might find that you are more comfortable with a UK-published guide, like perhaps Thomas Cook, because they will note special things that are important from a British POV. The books I listed above are geared toward an American audience. Rough Guide is the one most likely to include solid info on public transportation options, rather than a personal car.

Once you narrow down, you can get a few other books that go into more detail on the areas you wish to concentrate on.
