Planning Spring break 2019 and I only have enough points for standard 2 bedroom.. going with another family.... I would love to experience a Savannah view, so am considering 2 studios instead of the 2 bedroom. But, the 2 bedrooms are so nice and roomy and great sleeping.. more beds etc.

Is the savannah view worth giving up the 2 bedroom?

Thanks! KIM

It really depends on which you value more - a view or the space. No one can really tell you whether it is worth giving up a full kitchen, a living room area and washer/dryer in favor of being able to walk out on your balcony and see animals instead of a parking lot.

If you are friends who want to spend some relaxing time together, I would go with the 2 bedroom. If the children involved enjoy the Community room, that has a huge savannah view balcony you can enjoy while the kids do arts and crafts or whatever they like.

It is hard to give up a 2BR and instead go with studios even for the desired prize of savanna view. The space and room comfort level of a 2BR, including having a kitchen and w/d, is just so much better than a studio. You might want to take a risk and go with a 2BR standard and see if you can get lucky and actually get a savanna view. At Jambo more than half the standard view rooms are those that were converted from savanna view because the views were not ideal (but they are still fairly decent). If you choose a Jambo standard 2BR and request a room along Kudo trail, you might get a savanna view because all the standards on that side of the Jambo building have savannna view.

At Kidani, the majority of standard views do not have savanna view but there are rooms converted from savanna to standard view that overlook the Pembe savanna. The best chance of getting one is to ask for a room near the Pumba elevator. It is the last elevator on the north wing and is in between two buildings (pods) that house standard view rooms that have savanna view (including the two GV's that are standard view). Just be warned on that one that your walk to lobby and bus depot will be very long.

I don't mind studios, as long as I can get enough that everyone has their own space. Personally, if I was traveling with another family, I would want my own studio. As far as savanna view, it depends on if you are at Jambo or Kidani. Kidani's Sunset Savanna is amazing, but you are taking the chance of getting placed on the Pembe Savanna which has no giraffes. Not my idea of equal. Jambo's savannas are ok, but you are on the 5th floor so not the best for viewing. Due to those issues, I would book a standard 2 BR and would choose Jambo, which will be either pool view or reclassified savanna view. (Or better yet--but you didn't give this as an option--I would book two standard studios and stay longer!)

Could you swing a 1 bed standard and a studio Savanna. it would give you a combination of all the amenities, space with separation, gathering area, and have a Savanna view.

Just food for thought.

Well, my friend just told me she can't go for spring break, so we are moving trip to early summer and its less points! I am 1 point short for the savanna 2 bed! If I book 3 nights at 11 months, is it likely I will be able to add 1 night at 7 months so I can purchase a one time use point?

Thanks so much for the detailed info! Aren't the 2 bedrooms in Jambo lock offs? that would work for us but having real more real beds is so nice.. but something to consider for sure!!

Great points! We are only staying 4 nights because we are also doing universal this trip! thanks for the info on differences, I had read about pembe and you are right, its not worth the points for no giraffes, zebras etc. Lots to think about.

yes.. probably more comfy space.. we may be able to get both.. moving our trip to early june. less points.. may be able to swing a 2 bed sv now! Just a tad short..literally one point!

Yes, the 2BRs at Kidani are better and larger than Jambo's and only Kidani has the dedicated 2BR with two beds in the second bedroom.

You also have a high probability of being able to add one night at 7 months out to a 2BR dedicated savanna view at Kidani. For June, those rooms are usually still open even at 6 months out. The risk otherwise is for Disney, before 7 months out, announcing a Moonlight Magic night for that extra night you want. Those MM nights have thus far resulted in most rooms being rendered full before 7 months out when announced that early. The pattern that is developing for those is for the particular MM night to fill and not others around it (unless they typically fill otherwise before 7 months out); I am guessing Florida DVC members are doing a significant amount of booking of rooms for just one night for those MM nights.

Agree with the pp, I think you have a good chance of getting your night if you stay at Kidani, the 2 bedroom there is so nice and they have the better Savanna view in my opinion.
