I just had to cancel our reservations for the first week in October. Wishfully thinking, I had made them a few months back. DH has been out of work for 2 years now and I was hopeful that he would have found something and we could still go. Today was the last day to get deposit back, so I had to do it. We're hoping to go in January now. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!!

I know how you feel about having to cancel. We just had to put our trip off until next summer do to husbands work schedule.
Now the counting starts over. Will keep my fingers crossed you get to make the trip in January!!

Our trip is also on hold until next year due to my husband's job, he is in government work and we can't do anything until after the November election, so I am planning our August 2004 trip now...still not booked, only because I can't decide what we are doing. We were going to do a 4 night cruise and then to WDW for a week, but DH now says he is not sure if he will like a cruise and maybe we should just do 10 nights at WDW....the cruise sounded fun to be, but I actually cannot resist 10 nights in Disney!

I understand your dissappointment, we had to postpone our Labor Day weekend trip due to work scheduling difficulties. Hope January works out for you--we went in Jan of 2002 and loved it-- nice weather low crowds. Good Luck!

I have been there with you so many times. I have planned this vacation in my mind a thousand times, only to have to cancel it before the day arrives. Life Happens ! Keep hanging in there and doing what's right and it will come back to you. It just takes a while sometimes. It will be that much sweeter when it finally gets here. Good Luck.

We had to cancel too. I had the FTP booked for July at the Poly and we just couldn't afford it at the last minute. Our oldest is in college and she is leaving ( tomorrow) for Spain to study for the semester. I am very thankful though that we could send her, it will be a great experience. I am still trying to save for next summer, maybe June at the Poly......

I am so sorry that you are not going to be able to go in Oct. It reminds me to be grateful for my husbands job. I really wish he would do something else , but at least it is work . I am sending all my extra Pixie Dust your way .

I know the feeling, dh has been out of work for 6 weeks due to fractured ribs (he's a paramedic, how ironic!) and I would have canceled had I not purchased the airfare the day before (although dh says NO WAY I we were still going!) Anyway, he will be back within the next couple of weeks so things are on track, so I will send you ALL my extra Pixie Dust for January!!!

Thanks so much for all your encouraging words. My husband is in software and communications sales. He was laid off from Hewlett-Packard right before 9/11/01. The job market just went down hill from there. He has a few interviews coming up so I'll cross my fingersand hope for January. Thanks again!!!!

I too, have been in your shoes. My DH was laid off in March 2002. We had a trip scheduled for Dec. 2002 and had to cancel because he had not found work.

On the positive side, her landed a job mid-December 2002 (just after we would have returned from our trip). Isn't that the just the way?

Oh boy, I read your post and said, this is exactly what we just lived the last 8 months of our lives!! We just cancelled 2 trips planned in the last year because of my husband looking for a job and could not find anything. He too is in the computer field. He finally landed a job in Boston 2 weeks ago, on the week we were supposed to be there. So please, hang in there. It WILL happen. I know where you are, believe me. If one more recruiter gave him hope and then never called him back, I thought I'd scream. If I ever run into a headhunter, I will give them a piece of my mind. They know how vunerable we are, and they take advantage. Anyway!! Your DH will find something. The perfect job is just waiting for him, but it is there. I am so glad the other ones didn't work out for my Dh (and there weren't many), he would not have been happy with something about it, the commute, the environment, something.
Anyway, we have our trip rescheduled for January. So I hope you are there to celebrate too! Feel free to email me at any time during this struggle. I truly understand every emotion and frustration you are feeling.
