It looks like my parents and kids will NOT be cruising on 7/25/04 like we were trying to plan.

We had initially asked for a quote for a Category 4 stateroom but when my parents saw the price they could just not swing it. So after reading these boards some more and asking questions, we figured out we could live with a Category 9 room. I put new requests in and guess what? I'm shut out of ALL categories now. I cannot get my family into this cruise. Unfortunately, the date we can cruise is rather inflexible. What a disappointment.

Does anyone know if there is any hope of rooms becoming available as the date gets closer and how I might find this out?

Who did you hear that cat #9's were sold out? I would try many different travel agents (All Seas/Dreams Unlimited/etc) because the ta's buy lots of rooms and one travel agent may be sold out b4 another. You should keep trying...it is worth a shot. Good Luck!

That's really unfortunate. I wish I could give you some advice, but I've never cruised during the summer.

****Here's some pixie dust for you!****

I was using DU. They came back and told me that only Cat. 3's were available. I have put in a request with All Seasons and have yet to hear back. I went to the DCL site and put in my request for the 7/25 cruise and it is coming up as not available and is only showing the 4-day cruise of 7/4-7/8 being available.

Is there enough room in a Cat 3 for ALL of you to be in one stateroom? Would that help with the price?

Sorry it didn't work. It IS expensive. That is why I am hoping to be able to plan a 7 day in the OFF season.

Don't give up entirely! Keep trying!

Dreams Unlimited was about DOUBLE the price of other cruise quotes I got.

Since you know what date you are looking at I would put in a quote request with cruisecompete.com.

I just used them for booking my own cruise. What happens is that you put in one request and get quotes back from a couple of different agencies. One of the agencies was actually one that I've worked with before (Annette from MouseearsVacations.com) and I went with that one. Or you could contact Annette directly to see if she has anything.

No, too expensive. That's why we bowed out of the Cagegory 4.

I feel your disappointment! :(

There is nothing more magical than a family cruise! After ck'g around, if you do not find anything, my suggestion is to be put on their wait list. Sometimes, for one reason or another, the last 60 days someone may have to cancel, opening up some rooms.

If it meant not going, I would not hesitate doing a 4 day. Took my Mom and sister on the Wonder and we had a great time making many special memories.

Think positive and keep the faith ^i^

4nana,
Actually, the 4-day is the one I'm trying to get. Due to schedules, I cannot book a 7 day (although it appears that they are almost booked). They HAVE to do the 4-day on the 7/25/04 or wait until next year. My mom is so bummed because she really felt this was going to work.

In the meantime, I've check all the other sites and get the same "no availability." I just did www.cruisecompete.com as suggested above so we will see what happens with that. Still have not heard back from allseastravel.com.

Christine,

Have you tried Cruise.com?? It looks like they have some Wonder July 25 Cat 9 openings!! You may even qualify for the $150 rebate per cabin if you book on line. We have used them before w/o any problems and are also using them for our May 1 cruise. Keep the faith ^i^ It will work out!!

Here's some pixie dust!!:wizard:

Instead of waiting for Allseas to get back to you, why not call them. They have a toll free number 1-800-771-8690. Anytime I have called they have been very helpful. It does take a little while for them to get back to you if you E-mail them. I am sure they have quite a few to go through daily. Of course I am assuming that you are waiting for a response from an E-mail you sent and not a phone call.

Good luck to you.

Christine -

I booked my 9/4 cruise w/ this agent, no one so far can beat the price he gave us & he was/is he great - personality & customer service.

I have to be hones though, I never inquired about a summer cruise b/c of the $$. However, he/his company seems to do lots of bookings w/ DCL directly.

It's worth a try... I'd call him directly!

I just looked at expedia and it looks like there is some availability for Cat 9 on the 7/25/04 cruise. Check them.:p

I've been very happy with Tim Larison also. It can't hurt to see if he can find you a deal. He's always been very prompt answering my emails (even on Friday nights).

Thanks you guys--you give me hope.

I've been plugging away here with all your suggestions.

I first went to www.cruisecompete.com and got a prompt quote back from Annette saying that no category 9s were available. Category 4 was the only stateroom available on that sail date. Total price without airfare - $5137.00:eek:

Then I went to www.cruise.com. I got AAALLLLLl excited because the website showed available for those dates. I went through the whole booking process, even giving them my mom's credit card number. They could not confirm the trip due to availability. Apparently, they will be calling me now. :(

I guess I'll try the next ones on the list.

Without knowing all of the specifics of your reservation, it is VERY possible that the ship has no QUAD capacity cabins at all (other than the higher category 3 or 4) There can very well be other room category cabins available, but if they won't accommodate your party size then the cruise will show as not available for you.

The same holds true when a cruise is filled to its alloted capacity for children. Cabins might be available, but not if you have children.

I hope you find what you are looking for. Good Luck!

Sue Ellen,
It appears that is what is happening. I went back to the DCL site and put in a request for 2 adults and 1 child (an another poster did) and that IS available. Somehow, I don't think one of my kids would be happy with staying home while the other one goes, and 2 staterooms are way out of the budget.
