on Jan 1. Why did I wait so long to purchase?! I've been fiddling around with tickets and kept telling myself I had time. Never even considered that prices would go up at the new year.

I know what you mean. I was able to buy the last 10-day premium no-expiry pass that I needed from DiscountOrlandoVacation on 12/31. But I still paid $20 more than I did in October for the same tickets from Ticketmania using the MouseSavers discount. If I had acted just a couple of days earlier, I would have saved myself even more $$. At least I didn't pay the new price, which is $432!!!

I understand that everything goes up, and I understand that they increase due to adding great new attractions, etc. However, there has to be a limit.

I am not so much speaking for myself, since I buy annual passes (in state pricing) but, they already have priced out the low income family a LONG time ago and are now actually pricing out a large portion of the middle income families.

I'm just glad that I ordered my tickets back in August when I booked the resort. And even with the package that was released for our dates, I still paid about the same as that package - which means I did save money.

We have had this happen to us alot, we always wait too long to buy them- lesson learned I guess!

With all due respect, no they haven't.

A ten-day ticket costs $210 at its base. If you can cut out the park hopping and water parks, and use it at once, $21 a day isn't to shabby.

If you want an option, I found the 2005 prices on Undercovertourist.com last night. Got 10 day MYW - park hoppers/ no expiration for $345 @ You may want to try it. They are keeping the old prices until their supply of old tickets is depleted or Jan 10 (whichever comes first) Good luck :earsgirl:

True, but, it's still high and they only reason they make the non-hopper price so cheap is because they have it as the "safety valve". They know most everyone wants to hop, which is why the hoppers keep rising.

I agree that if you can give up the hopper you are fine, but, it's still forcing more and more not to hop, and to me that's half the fun.

Also, many don't go for 10 days.

I just checked out undercovertourist.com. They were sold out of 2005!!
Oh well! Thanks for the tip tho.

I'm sorry you missed the 2005 prices. That stinks. I read about it here and I had originally planned on buying the last 2 5-day MYW with hopping tickets that we needed from Ticketmania with the Mousesavers link. I read about the increase here and went to Ticketmania and they had already increased their prices so I looked around and found the tickets that I needed at Discount Orlando Vacations for only $4 more than I would have paid originally (which I think is the $2 difference per ticket savings through the Mousesavers link). I got them on January 2 so I felt pretty lucky to have found them at the old price by then. Otherwise, I would have paid an extra $30 I think it was. Once again many thanks to the DIS boards. My DH occasionally laughs at my obsession but the wonderful people on these boards have saved me so much money and he is thankful you're all here!

Saved on:
Delta tix that someone mentioned in a post: At least $500 less than we normally pay for airfare.

MYW tickets 10-day tix and 5-day tix before increase: Approximately $500 saved. Thanks to reading about the savings of buying 10-day tix to use for 2 trips and not buying from Disney directly and buying before the increase.

Car rental: Saved probably at least $300 on the two cars by using a code that someone posted several months ago based on the prices people are reporting for the same week now.

Sea World tickets: Saved about $60 by not buying at the gate and using a 20% off code posted here.

That is a savings of approximately $1360 thanks to the DIS boards and the wonderful people who take the time to post here everyday with their great money-saving ideas.

Don't mean to highjack the original thread but really wanted to thank all you DISers. Without all of you, I wouldn't be going to WDW nearly as often as I have been able to since I found you. :goodvibes

I don't consider myself hijacked - I think your information is helpful and certainly validates the amount of time I've spent here :goodvibes

I have found a 4 day hopper for $210.87 including tax but my info sources are still a little fuzzy on the new prices so i don't know if this is a good deal or not. I can get an 8 day hopper for $227.17 but I would be forced to add the no expiration which brings the 8 day ticket up to $323.02 (incl tax).

aaaagh - I'm ready to throw in the towel. Does anyone have any advice? :confused3

Mary from Mousesavers sent us an e-mail this morning and all the tickets are sold out.

Great info from All Ears Net - Thanks for the line. Looks like I have great prices.

good grief!
Disney is getting crazy with all this rasing prices, but i will still go.
They should only increase prices like every 5 years or something. HAHA Wishful thinking.
They make soooooooooo much as it i on everything else.

I wish I got a pay raise as often as companies raise ticket prices. Instead, I take pay cuts to compete with the "global" economy. Go figure. Pretty soon we won't have a middle class in the U.S....(okay, that is a different topic!)

At least we have great tips from the DIS boards on how to save money on our vacations. This year it looks like I'll really need those tips. Thank you DIS boards! :cheer2: :cheer2: :earsboy:

While I can see the points being made here, I have a tendency to look at both sides of the coin. Of course, as a consumer I certainly feel the pinch of price increases when it comes to housing, gas, groceries, ac/heat, car insurance (I wish all those bad drivers would stay out of central FL ha, ha.)

However, I think the price increases are fairly well alligned with other economic factors and I would rather spend $21 per day for a full day at a Disney park as opposed to close to $15-20 for a couple hours of entertainment at a movie. Realistically, I know that accounting for food and extras it really is more than $21 per day, but I still think it's pretty reasonable.

It's a matter of planning well and researching to get the best deal for your family. A vacation is an "investment" and not going to be "cheap" when it is a highly popular vacation destination. I think that it has become more affordable for lower to middle income families since MYW was introduced and value resorts were offered as far as vacations are concerned. For some, it may be a "once in a lifetime" trip, but at least it's a less costly one due to those changes I've mentioned.

Just my take on it.
