BOO HOO for dd! SMALL WORLD REHAB!

I just read that SMALL WORLD will be closing for a rehab for 10 MONTHS!! My dd will be CRUSHED!! We're just going to just miss it too I feel so bad for her, this is her favorite ride in all of MK

I tend to agree that it REALLY NEEDS ONE though and HOPE IT WILL BE WORTH THIS 10 month absence when it finally reopens. I have been through this ride so much in the last 3 years (with dd) that I probably have memorized it but you know kids--they can do stuff a zillion times!

BUT I JUST feel so BAD for dd, we're going in a month and I just don't know how I will break it to her and explain to her that her favorite ride will be shut down...I'd like to explain it is being changed for the better but how would you explain this to a 5 year old that just won't quite get the point of "renovations"??

I read this today too! It really needs the rehab and unfortunately some people will miss it. I read that there is going to be some new animatronics installed. Just leaves something to look forward to on your next trip. I have a friend going next month with 2 little boys (3 & 5), first trip ever and they will really be disappointed that they will miss it too. I think I read it reopens spring 2005.

The first dates I saw had it closing in June, so we would have been able to see it on our upcoming trip, but now I see May 2, which is a bummer for us.

We are disappointed too, but not for the same reasons as others =) We think the ride is pure TORTURE and my Dh hasn't had to endure it yet, so we were going to make him ride it so he would have the same torture inflicted on him...

So now we'll have to settle for the Hall of Presidents, instead. I wasn't willing to do both in one trip... So he gets to endure the second place ride =)

Seriously. Maybe you should just not tell DD that you know, and then when you get there, you can both be disappointed when you find its closed... ? That way, she doesnt get upset prior to the trip, and will find out when she's in the middle of MK and who can get upset there?! Perhaps a bit dishonest, but may save her from being crushed.

Yes Disney Kim it's closing in May and not opening back up until next March.

Aimeedyan-Hmmm, I'll have to think about that one, I just hate to see the disappointment on her face though when we walk up to it, it would bum out her whole day and mine, to see that look on her face and she'll cry too because she's very emotional) and there's not much more we do in MK-maybe we should just skip MK since we also missed getting into the princess breakfast this trip.

She's probably one of the only kids I know who would visit all the other parks before MK if it weren't for Small World.

It's funny though, I have to laugh about it being pure torture. That's kinda why I said I'm kinda glad they're doing a rehab, I COULD USE THE CHANGE myself!!!

The unfortunate thing is being that we're spoiled rotten Florida Passholders we'll probably be back 2 or 3 times before it opens again, by that time she may get over her fear of the other rides and tell me she doesn't care about Small World anymore

I had just told my DS7 that Small World was going to be closed in June so we would get to see it. And we have to miss Dinosaur and Honey I Shrunk the Audience too! Oh, well.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience is NOT in rehab. The attraction in rehab is the Honey I Shrunk the Kids PLAYGROUND at MGM.

FYI ... Honey I Shrunk the AUDIENCE is not closed for rehab. The Honey I Shrunk the Kids PLAYGROUND area is.

Thanks for letting me know. I thought it was the audience thing. The playground might even be worse for us (those 3-d things freak out my kids - but they love Mission Space - go figure!). Oh well, there is so much to do, they probably wont even notice. And, it gives us something to look forward to in the next trip. At least Snow White is supposed to be reopened by the time we get there.

Because of the early closing of It's a Small World, I think the initials IASW should stand for It's a Sad World. I'm going to miss it very much.

We're going in Oct. for mnsshp and I'll be disappointed to not get to ride iasw. We were at MK in January —DH and both DS's first times—and DH found the ride a bit "chirpy," ha, but I was really looking forward to doing it again in Oct. Should have ridden it more back in Jan. but you know about hindsight...

We were in the world 2 1/2 years ago and guess what....IASW was closed then and we missed it. We were soooooooooo excited that our 2 DS's wouldn't miss it this trip. I appreciate you letting us know about it so I can prepare myself in the coming days. I know that ride drives some people nuts, but I was sooooooo looking forward to it!!!!
