Boo Bash sold out quickly (some dates sold out in a day.) Phone lines were tied up for DAYS.

Meanwhile, Very Merriest After Hours has not yet sold out a single date.

Would you attribute this more to people drawing a line on the price? Or covid?

Do you think it is an indicator of lower attendance during that season?

Just curious!

I think price has a lot to do with it. But it's also non-refundable and that makes a lot of people think twice before plunking down so much money this far in advance. Too many "what if's".

Plus, the people who are even aware that this event exists are the same community of folks who just got hammered with the Genie+ news and AP restructuring/price hikes. People are weighing where they want to spend their $$$. This 4-hour event that could cost a family of 4 as much as $1K. That's money that could cover Genie+ and IA$ for their entire stay.

If covid didn't slow down Boo Bash, I doubt it would slow down Very Merriest. I gotta go with price. Ruled it out for us.

Boo Bash was announced before Delta was on the radar and went on sale before it was really an issue, so it seems possible to me that delta def could have something to do with the hesitation. Also, tickets are being released day-of for Boo Bash on many dates, which I suspect means that some tickets have been refundable, as has been reported by some guests.

Probably a tad cost, a tad covid, and a tad timing. A lot of the Boo Bash dates are during October when attendance already appears to be high for the 50th. It's a little different for the Christmas event. The cost is definitely pushing some limits for the Christmas event, and maybe Disney finally hit an upper limit for some? But there's still time, and if Covid issues in Florida improve, there could be more sales closer to the dates.

Saying all that, I am quite surprised to hear that no dates have been sold out yet. I was not aware of that. I sure hope it's not because they've bumped up the number of tickets being sold!

I see it differently. Disney set the bar low for attendance. They needed it to look like it was sold out. These aren't refunded tickets, they're tickets not included in the initial offering. Those tickets were non refundable. It's in the fine print.

Boo Bash tickets were not refundable either but when my sons’ family’s night was a complete WASHOUT, with NO activities at all, Disney had to do something!!! They refunded his tickets PLUS gave them the option of another party night or an extra park day. Don’t say is ever not refundable when it is based on the weather ruining your night!!!

Ticket info on canceling. I had a tough time finding this information.

I had some guests cancel on me for Boo Bash, and some are up in the air. I was able to trade in the Boo Bash tickets for regular day tickets on the phone, and the CM said that I can change the Boo Bash tickets around to other people. They issued me regular, unassigned day tickets.

I bought all the tickets for a large party, so they're all under my email.

I plan to swap the day tickets for an AP next week.

The quote above is from the Boo Bash thread. Unless I'm missing some context for that one (Do not think it was weather-related, though) it appears there is an option for refund, in some form or another.

Just my own thoughts, no facts...Disney probably set a low capacity limit for Boo Bash due to COVID, which is why you can still buy tickets at the park night of.
I bought my Boo Bash tickets (for late Sep.) a month and a half after they went on sale. Very Merry probably has a greater capacity limit, especially during the 50th Celebration, so I'm sure it will sell out eventually.

I don't think it's price related because Disney has the metrics and data to determine what people will pay for something, and still allows them to make a profit. They're not guessing if the price point is appealing and hoping for the best.

I read about that. What a mess. But that was an extenuating circumstance and not someone calling to cancel their tickets. I've read that there are tickets available most nights during Boo Bash and Disney isn't advertising it and web site still says sold out.

I don't think their metrics can take into account how peoples habits and circumstances have changed post covid. That's a wild card.

Technically a refund is cash back. The PP got an in-kind exchange. It makes good business to do that. It cost Disney nothing because they kept the money and made a customer happy. For a guest who may not return for years, a 1-day ticket isn't as useful as cash in their pocket.

I agree. I'm just saying that it IS possible that tickets becoming available are due to cancellations.

I think it's probably a combo of things, including tradition. There are a lot of folks that traditionally get their Halloween fix via MNSSHP. It checks a lot of boxes for people looking for safe, family Halloween fun. Adult trick or treating and costumes, that isn't an "adult" party. Even with so much entertainment missing, it filled an emotional hole that people were in desperate need of, given events. The Christmas parties never seemed to have that same attachment. While locals and frequent guests would go to MVMCP it didn't seem like it was a "must do" every year, like MNSSHP. Throw in the additional cost and still stuff missing, and it's a "good year to skip."

My birthday is a party night. I'd love to go celebrate at the MK. Unfortunately, it's the last party night 12/21 which is one of the $249 nights. I'm used to getting short changed on my birthday because of Christmas reasons. This time it's more literal, and I'm not playing that game.

Agreed. Boo Bash was on sale during the 60-75 days when we thought COVID was mostly over. I think a lot of people have cancelled due to Delta. I think its why the parks are so empty right now(well maybe not this weekend).

You missed the obvious: They probably increased capacity for this event. Disney doesn’t tell anyone what capacity is for anything. I have no doubt they increased Boo Bash numbers. And after seeing the interest there, Disney probably increased capacity to the Christmas event. And within a few years, both events will be back to the same crowds we saw a few years ago.

Bingo. Also, THE PRICE. Also, they probably bumped capacity, because of course they did.

I thought about canceling Boo Bash for Delta, and then I went to school pickup and realized my kids already live in an even less safe and less fun Disney-esqe queue.
