Well because of the addiction to Disneyworld I finally pulled the trigger on a new rv that I can fit my family in and be comfortable for the long haul from Phoenix to Orlando. I already booked the fort for June 2016 and plan on purchasing annual passes so we can stretch out the parks and enjoy the fort. My kids have 2.5 weeks off of school starting September 25th and we don't have to return until Wednesday October 15th. My kids want to do potter so I was thinking maybe staying off site and save a few $$$ and try the tropical palms trailer park. On the other hand I checked and the fort is available and is below the $100 mark during my stay. Diesel fuel cost is low right now too but I don't want to spoil the summer trip with too much fort.
I also considered staying at two different rv parks but I hate moving campsites. Any input on alternate rv parks in the area? Should I just stay at the fort and do universal and no Disney? Or should I take the universal tickets cost and apply towards the passes for fall and summer?

Too much fort? What is that? You are speaking nonsense.

Never enough fort....just go ask the lady in the 400 loop that has been living there for the past 6 years or the extended stayers that stay for 2 - 6 months at a time annually.

We did 7 nights our first trip...not enough.

We did two weeks the second trip....not enough.

We did three weeks our last trip.....not enough.

Four weeks coming soon....will see but I'm willing to bet that it will be perfect :)

I would book your Sept 25 - Oct trip at the fort now and decide after your June trip if you want to come back to the fort or try elsewhere. If elsewhere is your answer then just cancel your ressie :)

Once you have been bitten by the fort bug it is really hard to stay anywhere else.

Not sure the ages and only you will be the best to decide on which parks are best.

PS - you can decide on your last park day on the upgrade to annual passes. They will deduct your already paid ticket cost from the annual upgrade. Disney would love for you to upgrade so of course this is an option :)

Steve,

At the risk of being a contrarian, I would recommend doing Universal and the Potter stuff on one trip. Two+ weeks is a long time to do a no-Disney-theme park trip "fer shure" but having had kids at the age who enjoy Potter, they will appreciate doing it once (if they never do it they will hold it against you until they end up finally doing it, trust me on that one).

I know it doesn't help the business case with the AP purchase you had planned for the subsequent trips, but even if it was a 2-parks-in-1-day Universal run, I think you score points with Potter at least once. If you have a tow vehicle to make the 20-minute run, then I'd really advise it. We've done a Fort stay with no parks (but not 2 weeks) but give one day to Universal and a couple days to WDW in October and then do the AP upgrade. And by all means stay at the Fort for the length of your October stay.

My 2 cents since you asked...

PS - I'm also a contrarian in that I think I can get too much of the Disney parks but that's because AK, EPCOT, and DS are in such dire need of new attractions or something to freshen them up. At $100 per day per adult, the MK still holds my attention. I don't think there is such a thing as too much Fort either.
