Sea World Under Water 11/16

After getting in so late from the airport last night we didn't wake at the crack of dawn. Not as much pressure today though as it was a Sea World day. The scattered showers predicted for today have turned into a steady downfall. I had my cheapo poncho and Burt had a light rain jacket with hood to fight against the elements.
The first show we saw was the Clyde & Seamore Sea Lion Show. It's always a cute show but the best part is the mime that performs before the show. The shows at Sea World are all in protected stadiums so the rain was not a problem until you had to leave one show and go to another. The show's performers didn't mind the rain at all, what's a little more water when you already live in the sea. Hit the Shamu show next and then Wild Arctic. But since we were wet the inside exhibits at Wild Arctic proved to be too cold since the AC was still on, we didn't stay long. Lunch was at Mango Joes next door and then a stop at the Hospitality house.
I finally got to go on the Atlantis ride. Last trip it was down for maintenance. Since I already had on my poncho I was prepared to get wet. We stopped in to see the penguins & sharks but the inside shows were again very cold so we didn't linger.
Burt's rain jacket was not holding up well so I gave him one of my cheapo poncho's to wear over it.
Finally a warm inside show at the manatee exhibit. It was feeding time and all the manatees were gulping down fresh lettuce. Some of them were without flippers or had big scars in their sides caused by careless boaters.
The rain was not letting up so we decided to leave around 4. On the way out we stopped to feed the rays. They're like little vacuum cleaners the way they eat, sucking food out of your hands.
After drying off we headed to Bahama Breeze for supper. We had never been there before but sure wish they would build one in our town. Next we hit the permier outlets since they were close and hubby did not pack warm for this trip. He needed a sweat shirt or something cause the temps were dropping. He found something acceptable and we then had plans to go to PI. Since it was early evening we stopped at Disney's west side first and while wandering there it started to sprinkle again. Oh no, we didn't want to do "rain" again. We'd go to PI tomorrow night.

Attack of the biting flamingo's 11/17

It was still dreary and sprinkling this morning. The promised us clearing weather today but it hasn't happened yet. We're on our way to Busch Gardens. Got there about 10:30, the wind is blustery with sun & sprinkles on and off, but still better than yesterday. We headed for Rhino Rally first because it was new to us. The river adventure part of the trek was closed so only the safari was working. Think of Disney's safari ride on a much smaller scale with small vehicles, less animals and short winding paths. I was less than impressed, maybe it's better when the raft adventure part it working. After that we took in all the animal trails. At the baby animal section, they also had a flamingo pen. I've never seen such ferocious flamingo's. If you put your hand out they would bite you. Since they don't have teeth it was more of a pinch but could leave a red mark. One was a nuzzler, this guy held his bearded face close to the flamingo and the flamingo just started nuzzling his beard. Kind of cute actually, maybe he was searching for bugs.
We didn't even get to the main ride area until 2pm when we had lunch at the Festhouse. Still have a hard time with a German Festhouse in Africa but maybe it's just me. We didn't do any rides except for the train ride. Our main objective had been met with seeing the animals so we left at 4:30.
Got back to Orlando and ate at Sweet Tomatoes, a favorite, and then a trip to PI after walking around Downtown Disney. The first show at the Comedy Club was at 8:15. Could have been funnier. I guess it was partly the fault of the audience, at least the performers blamed it on us. But I don't think they did their best with the suggestions they got. Though I have to admit trying to get suggestions was like pulling teeth. We had all waited a while to get into the show and it was cold outside, maybe in the 50's so guess we were just trying to warm up.
After the Comedy show we went into the Adventurers club for one show in the library. Had to leave after that because it would be an early morning. Hubby's plane leave at 8am.

Next: Animal Kingdom in the cold

I am laughing at the flamingo in the beard.......our cockateils always preened my husbands beard....I think it comes with the territory......Sorry about the rain
