No sleep, safe won't open and Happy Birthday to Me. 11/14
When I checked into the hotel the only thing I asked for was a quiet room. My room while not exactly facing the interstate (4) was extremely close and noisey. It didn't bother me when I had the TV on and the blare of the AC fan drowned it out. But after being wakened at 1:30 am by noisey neighbors, I found the traffic noise unbearable. I tried to sleep but I guess I have sensitive hearing and at 3am I finally gave up and marched to the lobby for a new room. The new room was much better and the AC even worked better so I did get a few hours of sleep. Note to myself: Ask maid for a softer pillow, cannot sleep on a rock. Probably the only thing that didn't work very good was the in room safe. After getting up in the morning I went to retrieve some more cash. I guess I pushed a wrong number and the safe went crazy and would not let me open it. Well I had plenty of money for the present and more importantly my WDW ticket, so I would just head to Disney/MGM studios and return later to mess with the safe.
First thing I did was get my Birthday Badge from guest services. And after a small wait for the rope drop, I head to ToT for a fast pass that wasn't really needed and then to R&R coaster. I ask to sit near the front because I find it smoother but end up closer to the middle. The CM told me it was the slowest seat. Guess he was trying to be funny. After leaving that ride I went to ToT but didn't use my fast pass yet, I just walked on. It was very slow, many of the elevators were going up less than full. Got a regular seat that time but when I went on again using the fastpass I got a seatbelt seat in the back row. I really like the seat belts. There's nothing for you to hold on to. With the two best rides behind me I proceeded to the Great Movie Ride then Sounds Dangerous before I left to get the room safe fixed.
Sidenote: What's up with the crows stealing condiments? Saw that at MGM. The food stand wasn't open yet and covered with plastic wrap. The crows were pecking through the wrap and stealing packages of ketchup and mayo. I asked the CM about it he said they always do that. And once in awhile they drop the packages on peoples heads. Interesting.
No big problem with the safe. Someone came to fix it 5 minutes after I called. I was very careful with that thing for the remainder of the trip. I headed out again after lunch to Kissimmee to the AAA office to pick up a 2 park pass to Busch Gardens/ Sea World for my hubby who would join me over the weekend. I didn't need one since I have a season pass for BG Williamsburg and I can buy my tickets for 1/2 price.
I parked my car at Epcot and went in for a few minutes before I had to head over to my PS for the afternoon tea at the GF. While there I went into Spaceship Earth and then to the new Immagination ride. I think it's a cute ride, much better with Figment and I love the old song being back.
Took the monorail over to the GF for my tea. I made this PS specially for my birthday. It's something I always wanted to do. I really enjoyed it. Everything was delicious. My waiter asked me where I was from cause he detected an accent. Apparently my formative years in NYS and my life thereafter in VA have given me a british accent. That's news to me. I told him it must be just part of the ambiance. He brought me a cupcake with a candle and had everyone in the room sing Happy Birthday.
When the tea was over I went to the MK even though there was only 1 1/2 hours left before it closed. I had time to wander a little and go to Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder. I wouldn't have gotten on Big Thunder if it was not for a good hearted CM who gave me a fast pass in honor of my birthday. I left after that and saw a lot of the fireworks while riding the monorail out. I returned to Epcot and got a place to watch Tapestry of Dreams and Illuminations. I did have a long wait (2 hrs) but I needed the rest after my marathon day of park hopping. I was afraid the wind was blowing in my direction but the smoke stayed high and missed me.
Sidenote: When going through the fast pass line at Big Thunder I noticed a group ahead of me that the CM had stopped. Apparently they had only 2 fast passes and there were 6 of them. I think they tried to plead ignorance but the CM wasn't having any of it. Four of them had to leave.
Because of my lack of sleep last night I think I will just leave the alarm off. By the way, the maid brought me a nice soft feather pillow which should help.
