Are there any Wyndham Bonnet Creek owners out there? My husband and I have been looking to buy a timeshare resale and have found several on redweek website.

When you purchase do you actually receive a deed? If you do a resale through redweek, does redweek handle transaction? How many points does it take to actually get a 4 bedroom in June or the week before or after Christmas? Can you stay at Bonnet Creek every year or do you have to swap around to other resorts? Are maintenance fees yearly or monthly?

Does anyone have any literature that can be scanned and emailed to me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Spend some significant time reading up on Wyndham and the resale process. It's very easy to buy a timeshare, but quite hard to sell one.

You should probably check out this site too www.tug2.net/ - 51k . We have bought both our Wyndham contracts on Ebay. We have never stayed at home base but used at Bonnet Creek. As pp said, easy to buy but hard to unload. Good luck.

We have come to the conclusion that DVC isn't for us, but I like the idea of Bonnet Creek, especially if we could buy resale points inexpensively.

What I don't know is if the maintenance fees on the points differ based on the home resort. If we buy the points specifically for Bonnet Creek to have home advantage there, will we pay higher maintenance fees than on the same amount of points purchased at a less popular destination? Should we be looking for some obscure resort with low maintenance fees, and hope we can trade to Bonnet Creek when we want to? Is there a particular resale resort we should be looking at to maximize trade value and minimize maintenance fees?

The forum I linked to above has some nice documents availale that answer these questions---in particular, the Primer.

The short answers: MFs are resort (and sometimes unit/week) specific. BCs MFs are a bit better than "average", IIRC.

BC doesn't really require home resort advantage except for perhaps the biggest holiday weeks, and even then, it's possible for those who own elsewhere. For example, a few weeks ago I booked a 2BR Saturday-to-Saturday stay for Easter Week 2009 the day that the "any resort" period opened. Those were gone in a few days, but they were available for those who were on the ball---1BR and 2BRs 1BRs are still there.

You could still book President's Week 09 as of yesterday, in a 1BR, 2BR, or 3BR.

If you need larger units (especially the 4BRs) then you probably need to own at BC, but 2BRs don't seem to be a problem. I'd go with "points are points." This could change as BC comes closer to selling out, but I don't know that it necessarily will.

The places where home resort really does matter: Myrtle Beach and Florida Panhandle summer, Washington DC summer and holiday weeks, Rhode Island summer, and a few other odds and ends (e.g. Bike Week in Daytona). Otherwise, no big deal.

we are deeded at bonnet creek when we first thought about it we did a starter plan (300,000 points and 2 yr contract) what ever we paid per month went towards our down payment if we decided to buy after the two yr was up (witch we did) we now have 158,000 points i was able to get a 3 bdrm in august and i had points left over(witch was good we ended needing an extra night but we desided to stay at another resort closer to the airport for one night till the rest of the family gets there) to answer your question about different resorts you can go to any reost they own and for some reason if you dont have enough points you can either borrow(from the next yr) or buy extra points and if you like last min trip(3months out or less) you can get some really good deals like half price of the points i hope that helps

Just wondering........with 158,000 points, how were you able to get a 3-bedroom at Bonnet Creek in August AND have leftover points? Weeks #31 thru 33 would require 308,000 points and week #34 & 35 would require 231,000 points.

Yes, you get a deed. But it takes a long time to get the deed. We purchased directly from Wyndham in Auguat 2008. The deed was "made" in April 2008 and we just received the original deed by mail this week. I don't know how long it would take with a resale purchase.

Points required for a 4-bedroom in June = 424,000 points (Prime season), The week before Xmas is "value" season, so it would be 231,000 points. This year the week after Xmas is "prime" season, but the 1st week in january is "high" season, which requires 347,000 points for the 4-bedroom. A 4-bedroom in "prime" season and maybe even "high" season would be very hard to get unless Bonnet Creek is your "home" resort and you reserve it 13-months before your arrival date.
