Bonnet Creek shuttle fee eliminates park Hopping?

We have come close to chosing WBC for an upcoming trip for 4 families (7 adults 5 kids). We like everything we hear except for the $5 per trip shuttle fee. We are park hoppers and enjoy visiting up to 3 parks in a day. When we add $75 per day for a family of five to travel to the parks three times, that seems to take the value out of WBC.

Do most of you who do not drive or rent a car just make one trip to one park per day?

TIA

Once you are at the parks you can use the WDW transportation to park hop. What it kinda eliminates are those that like to come back to the hotel for an afternoon break :( Since you have to pay the 5 to go and the 5 to go again if you take their busses.

We just rent a car, I like to have my own transportation anyways to come and go as I please :)

Actually after reading your post, it is $5 per person from what I understand so your family would cost $65 each trip. Ouch...you might want to rent a van instead.

I thought the $5 was per person per day, not per ride? If I'm wrong and it is per ride, we will never be using their shuttle service!

sounds like $25 per day for your family of 5

as has been pointed out - if your family goes back to WBC and then wishes to return say for the night stuff - it is an additional $5 per person.

It is $5 per day - unless you go and stay at the WDW park.

so make sure you bring everything you will need with you - sun screen, sun glasses, bottles of water, food - unless you intend to buy it. sometimes to kept the kids entertained in the lines, etc

if you still want to park hop (and you have paid the extra amount for that with the tickets you are buying) - not a problem. just get on a bus, boat, monorail or ferry.

"sounds like $25 per day for your family of 5"

Yes...per trip!

I mentioned the $75 per day number (as an example for one of our families of 5) because if we were at a Disney Resort, we would probably make 3 trips to the parks. We often go to the early entry park, take a noon break, go back for the afternoon and then quite often go again after dinner for a fireworks show, etc. Granted, this is not every day, but some days.

If all 12 of us ride the bus, it adds $60 each trip. We will have 2 and 3 year olds with us, so mid-day breaks are a necessity.

Renting a car is a great idea, but it needs to fit 12 plus we are all then stuck coming and going at the same times!

The free shuttle really had us sold on WBC.

Decisions, decisions!!

It sounds like you might want to consider staying onsite. The logistics for 9 people were tough. I can't imagine 12. YIKES!!

I don't know when your trip is but Dollar rental is offering an excellent CITY rental rate. There's nine of us and we rented two full size vehicles for $163/wk for each. You might need a minivan and a car. I think the minivans were running around $350/wk.

WBC's silly fee is NOT $5 per day, and it's also NOT $5 per trip.

It's $5 per ROUND trip.

Personally, with a group this size, I would rent at least two cars...maybe 3. Depending on anyone's transportation (WBC or Disney) with a group that size is poor planning IMHO.

they could do it at on Disney property - because of WDW transportation - heck a group that size - could break into little groups and go to separate parks - says 2 adults and 3 kids wanted to go to MK for the day and everyone else wanted to go to Epcot - not a problem onsite - offsite a BIG problem.

would find out what everyone else thinks present them with the options and see which they pick - so all of this is not laid on you

Going to different parks for the day is not a problem onsite or offsite. What's a problem is OP's desire to go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. That will be a financial problem at WBC and a logistical nightmare onsite. They'll spend most of their vacation waiting for buses.

For the differential between WBC and just about any Disney resort, they could rent cars and pay parking and still come out ahead.

Very good advice OP. Don't pile all of this on your shoulders. Let people know what the issues and options are. Some may want to bus, others may want to rent a car.

Would they nap in a stroller? Could you stay in the parks and have them nap that way?

How many little ones do you have that would nap? How many adults would have to go back to the resort with them?

With a large group of several families, I'd leave it up to each family on how they want to travel back and forth. Some members of your group may want to rent a car. Others may want to take the bus in the morning and come back at night. Others may want to return for a break. At least the bus service is there, even if it isn't free, so you have some flexibility.

As for the cost, Bonnet Creek is still thousands less than any equivalent accommodations on Disney property.

We are getting ready to go to Bonnet Creek too. Trying to decided if we are going to drive to the parks or take shuttle as well.

For OP, depending on the time you are going you may want to consider renting a car. If it is super busy the time of year you are going then you may be spending alot of time waiting for shuttles. With your own car you would have more freedom. Or even just rent 1 car and assign a day that each group would have access to the car. That day could be that groups park hop day. Hope that makes sense. Have fun!!

I'd recommend each family renting a car. Then they can come and go as they please. Driving between WBC and the parks is super easy since you are already on the Disney grounds. Pretty much impossible to get lost.
