We are going to try Bonnet Creek for the first time. What is the best avenue to rent Bonnet Creek? We have only used DVC before.

You are first going to want to shop around for a quote. Here are a few places to check out first.
vacationupgrades.com
vacationstrategy.com
farrellsvacations.com
or check ebay.

I have used vacationupgrades before and everything went great. I just used ebay for march bc nothing was available from those sites.

If you know of anyone who currently owns a timeshare there is a website called RCI.com. You'll have access to Bonnet Creek and many others for a fraction of the price you'd pay through any other site. We've done it for the last 10 years. This coming May will be our 4th trip to Bonnet Creek using RCI:thumbsup2, it's by far the cheapest way to go. Having said that, the next best thing would be ebay. Make sure the seller has a perfect or near perfect score, and you should be ok, just be more cautious.

Hope that helps.

I have friends that own through RCI. Are you saying that I could rent directly through RCI? Please give more details.

Yes you can. I use my uncle's ID and password and book everything on line through the RCI web site. The rooms go fast and there's limited availability, but if you stalk daily like I do you can usually get what you want ;)

One other thing I should mention...... when I sign in using my uncle's ID - I go to the "Weeks" sign in and not the "Points" because we're paying for the week with our own money and not using any of his allotted points.....so in essence, it's not sweat off his back :thumbsup2

Hope that clears things up !

That's really great info...thanks! I think my friends would offer use of their login info if I offer them this little tidbit.....they travel a lot and only have 1 week of timeshare time.

Do you remember roughly what you've paid?

It will vary depending on the time of year but I can tell you we've got 2 weeks booked for May of 2013 and it cost us a little over $600/wk. for a 2 Bed Room condo :thumbsup2

The RCI weeks mentioned are called "Extra Vacations" that an RCI member pays cash for vs trading points or other timeshare weeks. You can sometimes get "Last Call" extra vacations in the $200 to $300 range a month or two before your date, but I don't think I've ever seen Bonnet Creek on the "Last Call" list. It's just too popular.

Wyndham Bonnet Creek banks their weeks to RCI in bulk deposits about 7 months out. Right now there are one or two March and July weeks in RCI, the rest are all August weeks. I copied and pasted the "Extra Vacations" list for Wyndham Bonnet Creek so you can get an idea what is available and what it costs. "Full" refers to the kitchen.

I just received a quote from Vacation Strategy for Jan 25th and 26th for a 1 bedroom. I was quoted $357 for both nights for a NON-presidential suite. Does that seem awfully high to you? It seems extreme to me...

Sounds high. Maybe they charge a premium for short stays. I don't know what the going rate per night is if you are not renting by the week. I'd get a few more quotes.

I was quoted 1190.00 for two weeks from Vacation Strategy in December 2013 for a 2 bedroom deluxe! I mean I still think its too good to be true lol

For a stay that is less than 7 nights I would expect to be paying an additional fee for the certificate transfer. It costs the owner $99 to do this so for a 2 night stay I would think that you will pay the entire $99.....week long stays or more they generally absorb the fee. With that in mind, the suite is probably only $258. January is either high or prime season at WBC...so it doesn't sound too far off.

RCI has a 1 bed room for $503. for the week :scared1: It's gotta be because of guest certificate transfers ....and I'm sure a little "mark up" as well

Dancin Disney Style - Yes, it is the resort certificate fee of $99 that is driving up the price. It is a better a value if one is staying a week or longer... Thank you.
