Hey there! We are planning a trip to Disney World from April 28th to May 6. After searching the Internet for weeks, I think we have decided that Bonnet Creek is where we would like to stay. We have looked at staying at a Disney resort to staying at a townhome 15 minutes away.
My question is...what is the best way to reserve a 2 bedroom condo at Bonnet Creek? Ebay? VRBO? I am hesitant to use some of these rental agencies we haven't heard of so any info someone can give would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the Dis!

The most popular company to rent from the boards is Vacation Upgrades. Ken Price and his wife Denise own this company. I rented from them in September and had a great experience.

The second most popular company is Vacation Strategies. I think a guy named Ferrell something or other owns that.

I price checked both when I was shopping and actually got a better deal with Vacation Upgrades, although many people say the opposite. One thing I notices is that people who purchased with VU had no issues with their rental confirmations, while some who booked with VS were frantically awaiting their confirmations in the weeks before their stay and seemed more stressed out.

If you want lots and lots of detailed answers, go check out the We Love the Bonnett Creek thread on this board....people post on there when they book.

Vacationstrategy.com is not Farrell . The owners of vacation strategy (VS) are Rick and Humaira Bourne. I do not know the web address for Farrell, but I do know he sells on eBay as Farrell's Vacations. Ken and Denise Price run Vacation Upgrades (VU). People have had good experiences with all three. If you search through the Bonnet Creek threads, these are the three names that come up most often, but there are other names listed as well.

Vacation Strategies, Vacation Upgrades, and Farrells Vacations get mentioned the most over on the I Love Bonnet Creek threads. I got quotes from all three, plus quotes from a couple of owners on VRBO. Vacation Strategies was the cheapest and I've never seen a negative review on them. Rick and Humaira seem to be very nice people. In fact, after booking, I emailed them with a question. Instead of simply emailing me the answer, Rick himself called to talk with me and asked if there was anything else he could help me with. Not expecting or even necessarily wanting a phone call back, I had not even included my phone number in the email. The only way he could have gotten it was to look up my name and dates (which I had included in the email), to find my phone number. Again very nice people. Here are all three sites though:

I would wait until 60 days out and the prices will get cheaper. Wyndham is a points system like DVD and at 60 out the VIP owners (more than 1,000,000 points or so) get discounts on available rooms. That is not a busy time of year, so there will be lots of rooms available. If you book now, they are going to pay the full points and it will be more expensive.

Also, you might shop around on Wyndham message boards. Lot of owners are floating around renting for $5 per point . I checked and the dates you want to go is value season. That means with no discount at all, it would take 125,000 points for 8 nights. If you found someone at $5 per point, it would cost $625. There is a great chance they would get discounts on that as well (if they are inside the 60 day window).

It is very easy to tell if it is legit because as soon as you book something with Wyndham, they can add the guests name. They should get an e-mail confirmation sent to them within 48 hours, which they can forward to you. You can then call Wyndham to check. Never had an issue renting from anyone online with Wyndham.

I used booking.com. There are 2 choices under bonnet creek, Wyndham and Orlando. The Orlando Bonnet creek is cheapest and I was told it is the same property.

Did you have to pay in full at the time of booking? They are showing availability for my dates for I want to be able to cancel if necessary.

Yes they charged me at the time of booking. Plus the price did not include the 12.5% tax. There is a cancellation date on there for full refund.
