These are the two contenders for my May 2014 trip. Anyone have experience at both? Bonnet Creek seems to make about everyone happy but, I haven't really seen anything about Holiday Inn at Orange Lake and I REALLY like this place too! I can also rent that from an owner cheaper as well! Please help me decide! :confused3 Thank you!!

nevermind, I answered my own question!!:rolleyes2 Orange Lake is out since it is so big. It had bad reviews as well but, I don't believe other people's experiences will be the same as ours. I like to form my own opinions about this stuff. I believe some people would love OL(probably us:duck:) but, some wouldn't. We are not super picky people. When we go to Vegas we stay for location at Harrah's(which by far isn't the nicest but, the location is great) and we have never had any issues with it. I am sure some people probably find Harrah's shabby though! I will probably choose BC! One question though, is it small enough that we can walk around to the different pools and such?? Thanks again!

Yes, it is small enough to walk to the other pools. There is a walking path around the small lake that allows you to walk from building to building and it is wonderful! IMO, WBC is the perfect size b/c it is big enough to offer a variety of amenities but it doesn't feel big. The buildings are taller which allows there to be fewer in a closer proximity to everything.

We spent half a day walking the path around the lake and letting the kids try out each pool/lazy river/splash pad. They had a great time. It's linked below on my trip report on October 21 if you are interested.

I have stayed at both. Yes Orange Lake is huge, but if you are staying at one of the River Island buidings I preferred it to Bonnet Creek. However, if you aren't sure you are getting one of those 2 buildings, then I would go for Bonnett Creek. I felt that Bonnet Creek was a little more worn, but still nice and not shabby by any means.

This is going to sound snobby and not so nice, but take it for what it's it's worth to you- I also felt the class of people at Bonnet Creek was a little lower (louder, rowdier). That doesn't bother me or stop me from going somewhere, but I noticed a definate difference. I guess this is because it can be rented easier and cheaper. We got a good deal for our rental off ebay.
