Hello! Heading to DW on Wednesday. First stop is Epcot from the Airport. Have LLSP for GoG for our family of 3. I usually avoid the rides that tend to make people dizzy. I used to be able to go on Space Mountain and no longer can. I've never been able to do the Tea Cups. I almost chickened out and didn't do FOP on our last trip. I did do it, but needed to look at the scene right in front of me and make my body go with the motion. I did feel ok afterwards but really had to limit my field of vision.

I really want to try GoG but don't want to ruin our first afternoon. I just bought bonine and seabands. Has anyone taken both? Plan on taking bonine on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday. The packaging says to take 1 or 2 once daily. Has anyone taken 1 - 12 hours apart? When we went to DL, I wouldn't go on Rise. I'm hoping if I make it through GOG, I can go on Rise.

I've never used sea bands bc I'm skeptical about them, but I get motion sickness and I take a Bonine before leaving the resort room in the morning daily when going into parks, that's been enough. For Cosmic Rewind sitting in the middle helps. I more so suffer from nausea than dizziness with my motion sickness and I find I can't ride it on a totally empty stomach even with the Bonine. We usually have a donut at the Joffrey's stand nearby before riding and that's just enough.

I used sea bands and ginger chews (just take one an hour before you ride - made by "Dramamine Advanced Herbals) to do Space Mountain this past February, and that worked for me. I've never tried Bonine and don't know much about that. I wanted to use things that I knew wouldn't make me drowsy or have side affects for me.

Honestly, though, even with those I wouldn't try teacups. DS for nostalgia sake really wanted me to do Space Mountain and with what I did the ride was just fine for me. I have some issue with motion sickness these days, but I use what I described above for reading in the car and planes and for doing rides that were fine for me 20 years back that only are fine now with these extra measures. I'm 64.

I use Bonine and it works great for me. Background, I'm a 68 year old woman and used to be a master scuba diver (see my picture). First time I went diving in the ocean it was 6 foot seas and we were on a smallish boat. I got very sick, learned you could throw up at the bottom of the ocean into your regulator sick. Captain suggested Bonine. Never got sick again after that and I've been on some pretty rough seas. What I do. The night before the trip I take one. Take another the next morning and one every morning after that. One does it, doesn't make me sleepy (which is helpful if you are 100 feet below the ship in the ocean). The trick is to get it in your system before. It will probably not do you as much good to just take it the morning of. First time I rode GOTG I got dizzy and had to sit down sipping cold water for about half hour afterwards. Could ride FOP or EE either. Now, I can ride all three and have no issues. I'll admit FOP still makes me a tad dizzy but not bad.

Also, a tip not involving any medicine or remedies.....first time I did Guardians I got sick...or...well, woozy and I couldn't eat any F&W stuff for like an hour and needed to sit down from feeling bad (just like the original mission space).....I refused to do it again....but then my dad came to WDW and wanted to ride....so I stared at the "no dancing" sign (just looked at the ride vehicle) the entire time and I was much better.....so after you do all the remedies, I would think about doing that too....

Thanks for the additional replies! I'm going to try it! Yes, I'm very nervous about doing so since it's our first stop of the day. May eat a cliff bar on the way from the airport and hold off on something bigger after the ride.

I can get motion sick in a bathtub/swimming pool, can't read in the car or on the plane, can't even look in my purse in the car/plane. Here is what I find helps:
Bonine- I have started taking one at bedtime, then another half at noon. I find that helps offset the "drowsies" although it's not usually a big problem.
Sea Bands- Not really effective for me. I used to wear them on the plane WITH the Bonine and it didn't make any difference.
Ginger- Nope, doesn't help with keeping the motion sickness at bay at all for me.
Food- A little something in my stomach helps. I try to stay away from sugary or greasy things, just something basic like a plain bagel works best for me.
Even with the Bonine, I have to "spot" when riding things like Dumbo. It's an old dancer's technique: Keep your eyes focused on one spot as you are turning. When you can't keep the spot in your line of vision anymore, turn your head as quickly as you can and refocus on the same spot. it's how dancers can do so many pirouettes/fouettes/turns without losing it!

When I am on a boat, I get a scope patch and use it in conjunction with the Bonine. Not recommended but it's the only way I can handle anything longer than the ferry ride from the TTC to MK. It's also why I'll never cruise... what if it doesn't work?

If you can do *any* of the rides you mentioned, you should be able to do Rise. I cannot do many thrill rides at all, nothing that spins, jolts, is too fast or is mostly simulators. I have gone on both FOP and EE once each and felt sick. Also Tron that you didn't mention - never again. Nor do I do Tower of Terror or Slinky Dog (did each once, won't do again). I will not do tea cups (got sick as a child once), and would never dream of even trying GoG, Space Mountain, Mission Space or RnRC.

But I just did Rise today for the second time ever and thought it was pretty awesome, with the exception of about 20 seconds. I didn't mind the brief drop, but just after the drop there is a short section of simulator stuff that is quite jolting. All in all, it was quite fine for this ride chicken and isn't at all comparable, IMHO, to those other thrill rides. So I would do Rise in a heartbeat while never even considering GoG.

My daughter has terrible motion sickness. Bonnie helps her, as does regular Dramamine. She also finds popcorn before is a game changer for her and something like a fruit smoothie after

You can use both because Seabands does not have any medicinal properties.

My daughter and I have both used Seabands and they did nothing for us. The only thing that works for us is Meclizine.

Meclizine and ginger chews.
