We're thinking of trying Bongos in September...we like to try new places each trip. Do you like it? If so, do you recommend lunch or dinner, and what did you like or not like? Thank you!!

I have never been. But from the all the reviews I have seen, for Cuban food, its not very authentic nor is it any good.

When you see the Bongo's sign, turn around and run in the other direction as fast as you can :goodvibes. I have never had worst and more expensive "latin" food anywhere else.

I agree! With such great Latin restaurants in Orlando, why did Disney pick this one? Guess it was name recognition.

The only thing worse than the food is the service!

Bongo's is terrible, imo. I have family in Miami beach, and go there at least twice a year. I've eaten my share of authenthic Cuban food, and Bongos doesn't come close. The only thing I like about Bongo's is getting a Cafe Cubano or expresso at the window outside.

No go on Bongo's:

We had dinner there a few years ago.
Service was not good, music too loud for conversation, and food was plain, as in bland. Not spiced (different than spicey everyone), and just bland. The staff seemed to us to be too busy standing around talking to each other and trying to look hip, rather than doing their jobs.
Having since had authentic Cuban food elsewhere, Bongo's really was not very good food, period.
If you want real Cuban food, there are much better choices fairly close by.

That being said, the walk-up window on the front of the building is okay for a snack. I tried that last year in a moment of desperation, and was pleasantly surprised at both the quality and price.

You have to wonder if any of these reviews ever make it back to Gloria Estefan (I doubt, since we're just the "little people"). But if I had my name attached to something like that, I would surely keep on top of things and not want the restaurant to get the "crap" reviews that this place always seems to get.
