I just discovered this band!!! I heard one of their catchy songs while watching the movie "Touching the Void". They also have a cool Christmas song I heard on Holly, one of XM's stations. I'm such a sucker for cheesy dance music!

My DH loves Boney M. THere are quite a few Christmas albums he has out, and my DH jams to those on his Ipod.

My MIL loved reggae music so it reminds him of her.

It's just such happy, reggae like music! I'm listening to Brown Girl in the Ring - I can't believe I've never even heard of this band before. I wish there was a head bobbing emoticon! :cool1:

Way back when music videos were just starting, I managed to record Boney M doing "The Rivers of Babylon". I absolutely love that video and song and, thanks to your post, it is now going through my head. I am not at all familiar with any of their other works, but I know that they have had quite a bit of success.

Glad that you found someone "new" to listen to.

I always liked Rasputin. We used it a bit when i DJ'd. Not too many people knew it but they always dance to it.

Love them! Brings back great memories of my youth--first heard them on a trip to Europe when I was a teenager. Just went back to Europe last year and asked at a record store for a CD--the clerk looked at me like I was some old fogey and said their CDs were in the "Oldies" section. :rotfl:

I have 45's of By the Rivers of Babylon and Mary's Boy Child. My dad totally loved the disco beat, lol.

My DH didn't know that I was familiar, and while wrapping gifts, Mary's Boy child came on and I was singing along. Good tunes.

OMgosh! I have their 45 (of course I can't play it anymore because I don't have a record player) with Brown Girl in the Ring and By the Rivers of Babylon! I went to Germany summer of '78, and they were popular at that time, and played a lot on the radio so I got the 45.

At least that's how I remember singing it. :teeth:

Thanks for the memory.

Yep , they were big in Europe back in the 80's and it's funny because I may be playing their songs in the car and people go , who are these? When I say Boney M they go who????
Yes I still do listen to them , I still do listen to a lot of music from when I was back home , in spite of what people may think. It's my car, my music!
