Bomas or Rainforest Cafe? (5 questions)

The day we are at Animal Kingdom, it closes at 5:00.
So I thought I would make ADRs for dinner for after that.
A few questions:

1. Can you walk from AK to AKLodge, or is it too far away?

2. Will a shuttle take us over there? How long would it take? If we leave AK at 5:00, what time should we make a ressie at Boma for?

3. Is Boma good? Is Rainforest Cafe good? Which is better?

4. Is Rainforest Cafe outside the park gates? So can we eat there at 5:30?

5. If we do eat at RC, we are done at 7:00, will there be a shuttle around to take us back to AllStars?

Take the bus from AK to AKL for dinner at Boma.

Depending on the line for the bus, the ride will only take you a few minutes.

Boma is very good, wide selection, you have the opportunity to taste a lot of different things because it is a buffet. RC is good, haven't been there in years, Boma is better.

I highly recommend Boma over Rainforest Cafe.
They are two completely different places.
Rainforest has everyday types of food and Boma has a great, unusual selection of foods. As well as a selection of more "regular foods"for the not so adventurous.
Also AKL is a beautiful place to visit!

You can't walk from AK to AKL,but the bus is just a short hop.You can then take the bus back to any park and catch a bus back to your resort.

Also,RFC is right at the entrance to AKL and getting a bus back to your resort after dinner shouldn't be a problem.

1. You need to take a shuttle to AKL far as I know it is a bit too far to walk.

2. Yes you can just catch the shuttle there from AK I believe it is a 5 to 10 minutes bus ride and since AKL doesn't share buses it will be the only stop. I would make reservations for 5:45/6pm if you are leaving the park at 5, just to be on the safe side, plus then you can explore the hotel a bit and see the animals there before dinner.

3. I haven't eaten at either Boma or the AK Rainforest Cafe. However, from what I have heard Boma is much better then Rainforest Cafe. I have eaten at the DtD Rainforest Cafe and the one up here in Maryland. While the food is okay it is not really great, in fact for the price it is not even that good. It is decent food, but you are paying for the atmosphere not the food. The restaraunt is nice, but the food is at the best average, most of the time. So between the two choices I'd probably go with Boma, but if you have never done Rainforest Cafe before and have kids, it is a neat restaraunt to see.

4. Yes (according to the passporter Rainforest Cafe AK is open till 1.5 hours after the park closes)

5. Not sure on this one, may have to get a taxi back, not sure how late after the park closes that the shuttles stop, even with Rainforest Cafe there.

I thought RFC was at the Entrance to Animal Kingdom, not AKL?

I just showed my kids the two choices, and of course they want RFC!!

I will have to call and see if either of them are even available anyway.

So I would have to take the bus from AKL to a PARK, then to our RESORT? They always stop at parks first? Which park would it hit first from AK?

A:UNFORCUNATELY NOT, .

A:YES. I'D SAY BETWEEN 10-12 MINUTES TOPS. I WOULD SAY 5:30-5:45, GIVE YOU SELF SOME ROOM, PLUS THE AKL GIFTSHOP IS A DANDY ONE.

3. Is Boma good? Is Rainforest Cafe good? Which is better?
A:BOMA IS VERY GOOD, BUFFET STYLE, GREAT DESSERT. RC IS ALSO VERY GOOD, THESE ARE MY TWO FAVORITE RESTUARANTS SO I AM TORN. HOWEVER, I DO THINK YOUR CHILDREN WOULD ENJOY RC OVER BOMA.

4. Is Rainforest Cafe outside the park gates? So can we eat there at 5:30?
A: IS A PART OF AK, YOU DONT HAVE TO ENTER THE PARK TO EAT IN THE RESTUARANT, HOWEVER UPON LEAVING RC THERE IS A "SECRET" AREA TO SWIPE YOUR PARK PASSES TO AVOID THE LINES.

5. If we do eat at RC, we are done at 7:00, will there be a shuttle around to take us back to AllStars?
A:YES, I DO BELIEVE SO.

You're kids may like the atmosphere of RFC better, but I promise you they'll like going out onto the landing that overlooks the savanah at AKL after you eat at BOMA much better. Animitronic animals vs. Real Animals...I think that's an easy choice.

I think your kids will like the theme at the rainforest cafe better however the food is much better at Boma.

Guess the call to make the ADRs will determine which one we eat at, depending on which is available!!

Called, and I didn't realize that the AK RFC was not on the DPP.

So I booked into Boma for 5:50, thinking that will give us time with the park closing at 5:00. Yay!! Hope the food isn't too far out for us picky, simple eaters!!! (hey, it is free though right!! Better then paying at RFC!)
