We just left Boma about 30 min ago, actually waddled out. They have taken the oreos away:scared1: Too many trans fats:confused3 . From our server apparently Chef TJ is not very happy with the decision. On the upside the pineapple cheesecake has returned:thumbsup2

We really enjoyed Boma's during our September 2007 trip. We loved the decor. The food was good, we tried many new things of course, some we liked, some we didn't. We all agreed to try "new things" (we each took a dab of several things on our first plate). We then got a serving of items we liked on our second (last) plate! I personally did not care for the Zebra Domes (our server and the lady when we made our ADR's had raved about these) but loved the Flan! It is the first place on our list for the 2008 trip! Even our somewhat picky teen liked Boma's! :goodvibes

That stinks! They are sooo good! There are Organic Oreos out there though! <hint hint Disney!!>

"Organic Oreos"? Isn't that any oxymoron?

Now I've heard everything. I can see it now-right between the corn fields and the soybean fields, a huge field of oreo plants...

I love these boards, they brighten my day.

:goodvibes

They (Boma) were serving the deep fried oreos at PftS on 9/29! Delicious as always, but they served them on the same plate as the ostrich bobotie. I like my ostrich and oreos separate!

Deep Fried Oreo's are "Fair Food", I never understood the connection with African Cuisine, however good they were.

We will deeply miss the deep fried plate of oreos, covered in chocolate sauce. I will admit, I am glad to see the pineapple cheesecake back on the menu. Why can't they both coexist in the same buffett???

Funny thing is I never had dessert at Boma:sad2:

The food is so good.... I get sooo full....I wind up having another
cup of that chicken pepper pot soup:upsidedow

Hi ya Bonz!

IMO just because I am not supposed to have fried Oreos I do not think it right that all you skinny folks cannot. Especially while on vacation. I am in favor of having nutritional information available and letting folks make their own choices.

I find it disturbing that they seem to do away with the unique items that are popular while leaving the mundane and adding the inane.

What is the point in eating at 'different' restaurants if they are not, in fact, different?

Variety is the spice of life and I am a spicy gal!

Thanks for taking the time out of your fun to keep us informed and educated. Have a great day!

You guys are thinking too much into this. Both reg. and organic Oreos have the exact same calorie and fat content. And if you're eating a cookie that's been fried, who cares if it's organic or not! LOL

As for trans fats- the server must have been misinformed. Oreos have NO trans fats(less than 0.5gm in order to say 0) in them.

thunderbug548. the fallacy of that argument is in the fact that no one, human that is, eats just ONE Oreo. Any food can be considered low calorie, no carbo/fat/etc. IF they divide it up into enough servings.

And that is why Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia is considered 83 servings per pint even though WE know that it is about half a serving per pint. :lmao:

Speaking of calories etc. Any very large DISers who live in the Southern Indiana area in need of winter coats? Mine now wrap around me a couple of times and I bought a new one, finally. I believe the sizes would be about 54.

My husband tells everyone that is the steriods I take but between you and me - it was the Oreos. Bags of them. Have not had a one in three years and probably never will again. Addiction is a terrible thing even when it is food.
