Ok you guys have convinced me to try Bomas. I am not big on buffets, Cape Mays is an exception, but you all rave about this one so we are giving it try next weekend.
We will have a newbie with us so I know whatever we do she is just in awe. We wanted her to see AKL.

So tell me what is good on the buffet and do the Zebra Domes have coconut on them?

The menu changes fairly regularly, but I highly recommend the following:

1) Soups - They always have something good.

2) Nut Crusted Salmon ( I had this once there and it was excellent - I do not know if it is a regular feature though)

The best feature is getting to try some items that you may not normally get a chance to. Be adventurous.

Sorry, I cannot remember if there is coconut in the zebra domes.

Menu Date: July 2004

Dinner Served 5 - 10 p.m.

Boma is a family restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. It will capture the essence of vibrant life in the African marketplace. This family-fun buffet restaurant provides guests the ability to savor the African experience, which has multicultural influences. The restaurant showcases an exhibit kitchen, wood-burning grill and rotisserie.

This is an all you can eat experience, but unlike traditional buffet lines, where you start at one end and work your way across...Boma offers "pods". Each pod has a selection of food and generally a chef nearby to answer questions.

Adults - $23.99; Children 3-11 - $9.99
Tax and gratuity additional.

Non-alcoholic, non-specialty drink included in price.

Fish soup is the best ever.... Great....

Meats of any kind awesome and the sauces they have out.

Also many flavorful and exocit salads of all kinds, too hard to describe.

Let's see .. what do we love on the Boma buffet..

roasted chicken
prime rib
several other meats
pap
peanut rice
potatoes w/ Afritude
several soups
hummas and bread
little pineapple cheesecakes
several other desserts

The zebra domes have coffee in them and that is not my favorite flavor. I have one or 2, but perfer the other choices on the great dessert pod.

It is such fun to go the the AKL for dinner. Make your PS for a time when you can arrive early enough to walk outside and see the animals. The resort is so beatiful and different from any other resort at WDW. Boma has a great atmosphere and the service is top of the line.

Don't forget to to try the Bobotie. My mother is from South Africa and this is a very traditional, and tasty, dish from that area.

We really enjoy Boma. I'm an adventure eater, the rest of my party couldn't be any more picky, and we all love Boma. I know it may not sound exciting, but for me the soups are the highlight of a Boma visit. They usually have 3 kinds and they all have so much flavor:D Definitely try a Zebra dome...or three.:teeth:

I agree that the soups are fantastic! I also love the hummus. I am in the minority and don't love the zebra domes, but I do think they have other fabulous desserts. Have fun sampling! That is half the fun.
