we are planning a trip in May and would like to visit the AKL so decided to maybe try boma for dinner. i am a vegetarian and am lactose intolerant. i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if there is enough for me to eat to make it worth the $$$.

thanks!:D

I ate there last June and loved it. They have lots of things to choose from, you just dont have to take the meat. as far as lactose tolerent I am not sure about that. I hope that someone has the naswer to this important question. :D

Sorry, but I don't know nuthin bout lactose intolerant either.

But Boma is fantastic, huge selection, each meal, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Really unique and interesting choices. I am kind of stupid, so I can't remember any real specifics, just to say that we will make it there and to Jikos at least once each trip.

lactose intolerance-- NO DAIRY (milk and cheese mostly)
i wasn't sure how many of the dishes had these ingredients...
thanks

When you make your PS make sure you tell them about being lactose intolerant. My nephew is hypoglicemic and they noted it on the PS.He really has a difficult time eating out and it is tough for a 9 yr old. From the moment we arrived in Boma, the hostess knew about his special diet, when our waiter came to our table he let us know also that he knew about the diet and if that wasn't enough Chef Ken came to our table and told Alex that he was going to fix him whatever he wanted to eat. While everyone else was running to the buffet Alex's meal arrived at our table,it was beautifully presented and of course I didn't bring my camera.Chef Ken came over twice to ask Alex if he liked his meal.Needless to say, this little guy who always has a tough time eating out had a unforgetable experience.Go ahead make your PS and enjoy the Boma experience, they bend over backwards to make everyone happy!!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I was at Boma last May and there was quite a variety to chose from. I don't remember many of the dishes having dairy products, although you might have to pass on some of the desserts. This list might give you an idea of what they're going to potentially serve.... but do call ahead and let them know about your needs. :p

My wife and I are both vegetarian and have a PS for 4/30 for dinner at Boma. I know there are many choices for us and the chef will come to your table if he is told in advance and bring food from the back if you have special needs. They do need some advance notice of a couple of weeks for your situation so you will need to make a ps now. When will you be going? We will be back home 5/7 so I can let you know more then.

After our November 2002 trip, we were not really that impressed with Boma. Sure, the selection was great and the desserts are amazing, but overall, we were not as impressed as others have posted here.

We gave it another try last week. It was GREAT! We had one of the first seatings and had a REALLY attentive server.

I definitely feel that Boma is worth the money and trip over to AKL, even for a vegetarian.

I am sure your server would help you with your food selections.

But being lactose intolerant, are you going to miss the zebra domes?

Ted

I distinctly remember there being a large number of vegetarian items on the buffet. I would recommend that for the lactose intolerance you call ahead.

Boma's is great with special requests. With the lactose problem, you will want to call 24 hours in advance directly to the restaurant so that they will have a dessert for you.

As for the food, let your server know and they will get a chef for you, the chef will walk you around the food stations and let you know what you can have, he will also ask your likes and dislikes and make up a platter of food just for you.

We just ate there last week with a friend who is a diabetic, has some food allergies and also is mostly a vegetarian, they were great with all of her requests.

you don't eat no meat?

Just try the lamb;)

I hope you've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding or this will make no sense
