Hi guys
im Looking for opinions on Boma for anyone who has been for both Breakfest and dinner, which do you think was best and why?

Cheers

When we stayed there we had both and enjoyed both a lot! However when staying elsewhere we just go for dinner and have breakfast at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom park which is similar to Boma. (They both have Frunch juice and very nice ham)When using the dining plan the dinner is better value.:surfweb:

Love both and couldnt choose - have been to both numerous times. here are our highlights of both - not sure if it helps.
Breakfast - fresh fruit, great carving station (have had corned beef/pork/ham on various visits)
Usual breakfast foods plus some African specialities such as African fruit salad (with some sort of yoghurt over it).
Frunch
The amazing sticky toffee pecan buns - I think this is probably my favourite disney food ever.

Dinner:
African stews, curries, carved meat, salmon
amazing salads, fruit, hummus and breads
kids station
fabulous desserts, peanut butter cups, zebra domes, coffee cups etc.

Our family of four love both but two would prefer breakfast and two dinner :)

Think I am in a minority but we weren't wowed by Boma dinner. Have been twice.

Food is sweet rather than spicy. Always seems to be very busy at the buffet. It is set up as pods but both times we went it was so busy it was long line - it felt like you were cutting in.

That said the chicken coconut curry soup is excellent and I make it at home now.

I'd recommend anyone try it at least once - it wasn't horrible by any means.

thanks for the info upto now :thumbsup2 my gf and I have dinner booked there for our upcomming trip, but keep hearing nice things about the breakfest so might add that in aswel :)

Yes I second this..
We used to really love Boma's then one year it was just different and we were not impressed. You need to make sure that you have a love of cinnamon as they seemed to have it in everything the last time we went and to me this is the worst possible taste going..it was like they altered everything to give it a more american appeal ie sweet and with cinnamon! We prob will not give it another chance. But many people have great reviews of this place..its just a matter of taste buds!:)

I agree with every word. We've only been for dinner once and it was a long time ago, but it was just way too manic for me. I guess that's probably true of most dinner buffets, though. If you are tempted, I'd suggest snagging the earliest ADR when at least all the food will be fresh and won't have been picked over.

Breakfast at Boma was our first morning tradition for several trips on the trot. The beauty of that is that you're awake at the crack of dawn so you can be there for the first ADR (which used to be 7am), have the place virtually to yourselves and still be at the turnstiles of a park for opening.

I also make the chicken curry soup at home, but serve it as a curry with the peanut butter rice (which is effectively a satay rice). I can't claim credit for the idea, though - I first had it many years ago courtesy of Theresa (Latte Lover).

Another here that could have written this.
First time I really enjoyed(curry soup was delicious) DW & DS not so much, they both struggled to find something to eat.
2nd time none of really enjoyed it, doubt we will return.

Never been for breakfast.

If I had to choose only one, I'd do breakfast

There is a wider choice of food than at other breakfast buffets (like ohana's for example)

Dinner is fine, but even though there are lots of yummy food, DW ended up eating mac&cheese off the kids station ... yup ... so I doubt we'll do it again

but breakfast sure sounds nice and will most probably be on our ADR list again next year

Have been several times and enjoyed it - haven't been for a while though.

For us Boma means - ZEBRA DOMES!:thumbsup2

Oh I didn't know that, thanks Wayne. No doubt a trip to Mara (or two;)) will now be added to our itinerary.

can you believe that my wife didn't like them ?

guess who got to eat her zebra domes withouht having to go back to the buffet :) :) :) yummy :)

I LOVED Boma for dinner. I'm vegetarian, and it was one of my favourite meals out of our whole two week trip. So much choice! My other half (who's not vegetarian) also LOVED it, and we've booked to go back for dinner this September :thumbsup2

Not tried breakfast, so sorry I can't comment on that, but not being a big meat eater I doubt there would be much on offer for me by the sounds of the previous posts.

Good luck with your decision! :thumbsup2

Interesting that others share my views. On the US restaurant board on here Boma is pretty much universally praised.

The soups go in rotation aswell - my DH was especially disappointed that the chicken soup was seafood not chicken on the day we went.

Have just put the ingredients for the soup on my Asda delivery :) - recipe is on allears if anyone is interested.

its the cheese cake that caught my attention is this picture...yummy..!
Oh and to the PP who is vegetarian...whatch out because most of the desserts have gelatine in them! Pretty certain the Zebra domes do.

We tried this place for dinner last year and we were sadly disappointed. We tried almost all of the offerings and the only thing we went back for more of was the hummus.

DH said it all tasted the same. The deserts all had a flavour of alcohol in them (I like a drink) but they all tasted the same.

Only thing I liked was the chicken curry. The soups were meh one of which was more like a satay sauce than a soup.

Oh and its LOUD due to all the wood and the high cellings the sound just echoes about and you can hardly hear your self speak.

I was really looking forward to it with all the positive reviews and the comments about the zebra domes.

We loved looking about AK lodge but we would not be going back for a meal.

We did love Tusker House at AK for breakfast though.

Thanks! I'm not really a dessert person though, think I had fruit the last time I was there. Was too full after all the delicious rice n salads n stuff! You'd be surprised at some things that aren't veggie - I pretty much know all the pitfalls now.
