I am trying to decide whether to change one of my ADR's to Boma (if possible) just to have a different type of dinning experience. However, I don't like a lot of "weird" foods and the menu is a little vague. Can some of you tell me things you have had so I can get an idea if there will be enough variety for us to eat there. Thanks.

I have a VERY picky family and we go to Boma EVERY time we visit WDW! Everyone in our group always eats BIGTIME because there is SO much offered -- truly something for everyone.

They always have prime rib or turkey being carved, and also roasted chicken pieces and often salmon and sometimes slices of steak. Occe I had very delicious ribs. These meats are offered with some funky sauces you can take or not. There is a section with soups that are exotic and fragrant -- some of my favorite choices on the buffet. I love the chicken corn porridge, which has cream and bits of red pepper and is very sweet. My husband loves the ginger carrot soup. There are some hot soups too, and sometimes a seafood-based one. There are usually a few dishes made of rice, grains and potatoes (white or sweet) too.

They have spring mix and basic greens, with all sorts of homemade dressings -- most of these fruit-based vinaigrettes -- and many "side salad" dishes. There is a coleslaw they make with strips of paper-thin watermelon rind that is very refreshing and good. There is a potato salad they always have, and a macaroni-type salad. There is one made with carrots and a few that have grains like couscous with raisins or bits of fruit. There are also platters of beautiful fresh fruit... My daughter loves the pineapples and strawberries. They have rolls, flat bread and these big things that are kind of like giant crispy crackers -- my husband likes those.

The kids' bar has chicken tenders, pb&j sandwich triangles, pasta with meatballs and tomato sauce and (I think) pizza.

The dessert bar alone is worth the visit... They have bread pudding, big cookies in different varieties, brownies, fruit tarts and wonderful individual kahlua-mousse treats called Zebra Domes. They have a great chocolate mousse dessert and my favorite WDW dessert of all time -- which they only have on some nights -- is a tiramisu dish called "Cocomisu." It is topped with toasted coconut and it is HEAVENLY.

They have good coffee, tons of soft drinks, and you can order from a large selection of South African beers and wines. In all the times we have visited Boma, we have NEVER had bad service... It is busy and noisy in there and quite festive, and the servers are from all over the world... Very cool.

Whenever we have dinner there we go outside afterward, see some animals, walk around the pool, and shop in the gift shop -- we make a night of it! It is less busy if you go earlier in the evening. Give Boma a try! :thumbsup2

great place to eat with lots of variety - prime rib is a safe choice, the soups are good and the salads are also good---you will have enough to eat but have the opportunity to try some different foods ---the hotel is beautiful and a lot of fun to walk around after dinner
you'll really enjoy the evening!

Thats funny I just canceled my concord steakhouse ressie for 9/1 and changed to Boma instead:rotfl2: . I had to take an 8:30 ressie, but we usually have late dinners at home anyway. I changed my mind from all the great feedback from several disney forums. Good luck.

I have a few questions too....

Can you see the animals from inside the restaurant?

With the construction going on at AKL right now, are the animals staying far away?
I have never been here before, but my dd loves giraffes, so I thought we might go here to eat, and was hoping to see a giraffe!

Also--do they have the typical Disney buffet garlic Mashed potatoes here?
(DD loves them!)

My dh doesn't consider a trip to WDW complete w/o going to Boma! Lots of regular food but it's fun to try the weird stuff too. Soups are wonderful.

Not sure how the recent construction is affecting the animals, but just wanted to let you know that you cannot see the animals from inside Boma. You can go to a few of the viewing spots from within the hotel if you have time, plus spend a bit of time in the gorgeous lobby or perhaps grab a drink at their bar, etc.

This is coming from a big-time picky eater: I promise you will be stuffed as you leave Boma.

Boma is a must do for us every trip - especially the dinner - if you are not staying at the resort it is a good excuse to come and visit :cool1:

We must do Boma on every trip. We took the in-laws last time and they are very simple eaters and they loved it. The carved meats, soups and desserts are worth going by themselves. The sides are just an added bonus. There is always someone nearby that can explain the dishese to you if you have any questions. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to explore the resort before or after dinner.

We had dinner at Boma a few weeks ago on our first visit to WDW and we loved it! We have 4 kids and there was something for everyone. DS 15, DS 12, DD 10 and DS 7. The resort where it is located is beautiful and they have a great gift shop too! On my next trip to WDW I will go back to BOMA. Hope you have great time!

Boma is our favorite buffet at WDW. They have many different items plus many regular buffet items. There soups are fantastic. :)
