Had dinner at Boma for the first time last night, and I LOVED it!

They served both the flank steak and prime rib (one rare-ish prime rib roast, one more medium), and both were awesome. The fish was salmon. I absolutely love the flavorings they use, especially the flank steak. I can see how this might be a "love it or hate it" restaurant with regards to the flavoring and seasonings, but I was just blown away.

I can see why the carrot-ginger soup is so popular, but it was a little too sweet for me and I preferred the seafood curry stew (yum!).

I also tried the various sauces and flatbreads... The greens with cilantro dressing... a little mac-n-cheese, some curried cauliflower dish... I basically tried a little of everything, getting very small portions. The only thing I didn't like enough to finish was the peach-and-jicama salad.

And of course the desserts were amazing... Count me as a new zebra dome fan. I also liked the mini chocolate mousses. They also had fruit tartlets, fresh cookies, fruit, and what looked like small coconut tarts.

This was some of the best food I've had on Disney property, and I sure hope they keep it the way it is and never "americanize" it. :)

We ate there Labor Day Weekend. My husband's favorite was the potatoes with Afri-tude (I think that is what they were called)! I agree the carrot ginger soup is delicious (and sweet), but a little goes a long way. And the zebra domes.....

thanks for the memories!

I ate there last year and it was wonderful! I'm going back on Saturday. For those eating at Boma for the first time be sure and try the bobotie, a traditional South African meat dish. It's very flavorful and unlike most anything you'll get anywhere else.

My other favorites were the peanut butter rice, zebra domes and potatoes with afritude.

Boma is definitely worth visiting again and again!

I agree! Dinner at Boma is wonderful and the price is pretty reasonable, too. I also think their breakfast buffet is great. I've noticed that the serving staff here have consistently been the best we've ever had for Disney buffets. At some places you see your server for a drink at the very beginning, and then have trouble flagging them down for refills or to get your bill, but Boma staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need.

Great restaurant!

Sounds wonderful! Hmmmm I think I'd enjoy it but I don't think hubby would enjoy it! :(

My wife was nervouse about trying Boma and she totally loved it, even more than myself (if that's even possible). The food was great, service was wonderful and the AKL is just a wonder.

If all else fails, your husband can have chicken fingers and mac& cheese from the kid's area!

Thanks for all the recommendations! We are eating at Boma in October for dinner and breakfast. I had several things written down to try for breakfast but nothing for dinner. Now I have in my notes, "Carrot-ginger soup, seafood curry stew, bobotie, potatoes with afritude, peanut butter rice, zebra domes."

I love suggestions! Thanks again and I can't wait! I love ethnic food!

Cool- thanks for the review. Based on the number of glowing reviews I have seen for Boma on these boards, I recently changed on of my PS's to Boma. I hope I enjoy it as much as others have! :)

I'm an "adventure eater" so I loved Boma. Here's the good news: DW and twin DD's are among the pickiest eaters on the planet and THEY LIKED IT TOO:bounce: Seems for the meat & potatoes crowd you can fill up on beef and the simple stuff, while there are more exotic dishes for the more adventureous. My only complaint is the noise level. There is a din in there that doesn't stop.

I believe I've seen the recipe on the board before, but can someone describe bobotie? Isn't it a ground beef-type of dish?
