Which one do you think is better after a day in AK? and Why?

(Opps I didn't mean Ohana, I meant Tusker House!)

Doesn't look like I can edit the poll, please vote for Ohana if you want to vote for Tusker house! Grrr!

Lol! Hopefully your poll wont be all messed up? :lmao:

I vote for Tusker....we LOVED this place on our last trip! Wonderful selection of food!

I would vote Tusker House for breakfast:love:
I would vote O'hana for dinner:love:
I would also vote Boma for dinner:love: but we  O'hana more

we don't do breakfast but we did both for dinner. we went to tusker house one day when i was absolutely starving. i was going on reviews of tusker being good. so we went. its now the house joke. dh hated it so did my 15yo. i thought it was ok, however i wouldn't go back.

boma however is in the running for one of my absolute favorites.

If you are talking dinner and you are NOT staying at AKL...then I say Boma. Boma is good, but the real treat is exploring the AKL :thumbsup2

I know I'm in the minority, but I much prefer Tusker House over Boma.... we did Tusker House 2 years in a row and absolutely LOVED the offerings-even my 2 picky eater DD's! Last year I opted to do Boma instead because of the rave reviews it gets here..... I didn't like it :( I was terribly disappointed I hadn't booked Tusker for that trip and know now to stick with Tusker :thumbsup2

If I was planning to spend a day in AK, I would pick Tusker House. BUT, mainly because I'm a vegetarian. AK does not have many restaurants with decent vegetarian offerings. If I *wasn't* spending a day at AK, I would definitely do Boma for dinner. I found the food at Tusker House very similar to Boma (maybe less adventurous though?).

A few other things to consider:
  • If you're not staying at AKL, then it can be a hassle to get to and from Boma if you don't have a car.
  • Tusker House does lunch (less $), Boma does not.

Of course, in a perfect world, I would do both! :)

OK, I voted Tusker House (don't like 'Ohana!)

We didn't care for Boma dinner at all...way too sweet on the veggies/sides/meats and way too cinnamon-y on the meat for us (for example, red hot cinnamon flavored ribs...uh, no, not tasty. We love BBQ...we love ribs. Cinnamon red hots is candy, not sauce, lol.) Coupled with the food we didn't like, Boma was a mad-house when we were there. Packed, dozens of unaccompanied kids in the buffet lines...ugh. We go to many character meals, and found Boma (with no characters) was busier, louder and harder to navigate than any of the character meals we've gone to.

Now we loved Boma breakfast. Wonderful food (including some ethnic offerings) Much quieter and more relaxing. And outstanding coffee:thumbsup2

We did like Tusker House dinner...the usual Disney buffet items, plus a few slightly more exotic sides & meats. Enough to be interesting but not in-your-face different.

If you're set on trying Boma, be prepared for the transportation issues. As others have said, if you're not staying at AK Lodge, transportation to/from Boma can be a challenge. If you're leaving AK before your dinner, you can just take the AKL bus. But then to get back to your resort is more of a challenge. You'll have to take a bus from AKL to a park that's still open (or DTD) and then catch your resort bus. Or drive yourself if you have a car there:) Or take a cab back to your resort if no car.
