Just arrived home from a wonderful dinner tonight at Bomas. I wanted to post a quick review before heading to bed.
We made a PS for 7:30pm, we arrive around 7:20 and although the restaurant looked very busy we were seated promptly. Our waitress was Allison from Miami and she was very attentive, making sure our drinks were filled, pointing out things to try and cleaning the dishes as fast as we used them.
Tonight's rotation included the Sirlion, BBQ Salmon and Prime Rib on the grill section. All were yummy, I enjoyed the Salmon w/ BBQ sauce better than the version they have with mustard. Overall all the items here were GREAT!
Some other favorites were the Pap, the grilled Veggies, FuFu, Bobotie (this is great), Hummus, and Plantain Salad.
Everything was very fresh, hot and tasty. I just love the atmosphere at Boma's it's so busy, yet you feel like your the only one as most of the waiters are very attentive, the chefs polite and friendly and the hostess are also a pleasure.
We finnally got to speak with Chef T.J, who use to post as FlyingChef, we had PM'd awhile back regarding the Bobotie dish and he had told me to speak with him the next time we came in.
Well he was wonderful and served us a special dish of Shrimp and Ribs, which were out of this world. I'm not sure if the shrimp is a normal Boma item but I think the Ribs are.
I would highly recommend Bomas to anyone who has not tried it before, you won't regret it!
Also they currently have the Genie from Aladin made out of Chocolate in the main area flying over Africa (also made of Chocolate)... very cool. And near the restrooms, in the pond/waterfall there is a village, boma and victoria falls all made out of Marzipan and Chocolate, it's amazing, neat! Check it out.
