Boma or WCC?

We are going at Christmas. Trying to decide between eating at Boma and seeing the AKL after a day at AK, or stopping at WL and eating at WCC (we are staying at the GF and the bus stops there on the way back from AKL). We really would like to see the Christmas decorations at WL, but would like to see AKL too!

We are doing 3 buffets already (H&V, CM, CP), and they are harder for us with the kids (mom never gets to sit or eat). I know Boma gets rave reviews, but we also wanted to try WCC. Only have time to do one of the two.

What would you do? Which would be better for THREE 5 year olds?

I wouldn't do 4 buffets. Either swap CP or CM for WCC and do Boma or do WCC and skip Boma. You can take the boat from MK to WL.

If all you want is advice on whether to eat at Boma or at Whispering Canyon - I would suggest Boma in a landslide. WCC just isn't as good as it used to be when it first opened - the food is just okay, but nothing that you couldn't find back home. Boma, on the other hand, is very unique and delicious. Most people can't go home and eat African food! This may be your only chance to "take a walk on the wild side" and try some things you may never have a chance to have otherwise!

I agree Boma is better than WCC, OP gave valid reasons for not wanting to add another buffet. I'd look to replace CP with WCC and then add Boma.

Boma's, Boma's, Boma's!! I am counting my days to return to WDW...and to go back to Boma's.

I loooooove Boma. We go every trip. It is not to be missed.

I'd also be hesitant about four buffets. I suggest LTT, CRT, or GG instead of CM. They are plated character dinners. This is assuming you are doing the Fantasmic Package with H&V. If not doing the Fantasmic Package, drop H&V and go to CM breakfast. My DD7 and DS9 had a great time. DH and I enjoyed the breakfast food. I cannot say the same for CM dinner. And, we always make a PS for CP. I think lunch and dinner are very good.

The food is better at BOMA. We go to WCC for the "experience" of being picked-on, not for the quality of the food. We didn't enjoy dinner at CM, but have had some enjoyable breakfasts there. Just my 2 cents, but I would try and work BOMA in somewhere. This was the nicest surprise of our last vacation.

if you have never seen the lodge at christmas, then you need to figure a way to see it. we enjoy wcc for breakfast more than the other meals. that might be an option.

Thanks for all the advice. I think we'll do Boma for dinner after AK. Going to switch CM to b'fast. Will do Mama Melrose with the Fantasmic Package instead of H&V. That leaves CM (b'fast), CP (b'fast), and Boma (dinner) as buffets. May do 1900 Park Fare for dinner (another buffet I know) if we can't get CRT (we're staying at the GF).


We will just go to the WL to look around on our way back from Boma. Supposedly it stops at the WL on the way to the GF. If we don't do it then, we'll just take the boat from MK one day.

Not to sound like a broken record, but BOMA!!! We tried WCC in December when we stayed at WL, but it was just OK for us. Our server wasn't really "into it" and the food was good, but certainly not BOMA...

We're doing both of these on our upcoming trip. We haven't been to either one, but everyone raves about Boma and the food doesn't look that good at WCC, but we're going for the "antics" and to see the lodge.

The best of the two for kids is probably wcc but boma is a better place if you are looking for the better tasting food.

Having never been to either myself, I can't tell you first hand. But here's my thinking. I looked over the food at WCC and I can do barbeque at Flame tree, cosmic rays, etc at the counter or even at home. Now I can't get the antics but those aren't guaranteed at WCC anyway.
I can't get Boma at all that many places that I'm aware of.

If you have to eliminate a buffet, I'd eliminate one of the other 3 as being most similar to each other. Most likely H And V as it's without characters.

I indeed chopped H and V off my list in favor of Mama Melrose.
