Boma or Tusker House for Breakfast?

We're planning our first trip to WDW for mid-September. After many, many trips to DLR, the amount of planning for WDW is a tiny bit overwhelming!

Which of these options do y'all think would be better?

1) Do AK on a morning EMH, hit the EE and Safari, then have a later breakfast at Tusker House, OR

2) Try to get an early breakfast at Boma, then hit AK (on a non-EMH morning)

Or I'm open to other suggestions as well if neither of these sound like a good plan. I'd really like to try Boma, since I've heard lots of good things about it, but I'm wondering if it'll be too tight of a squeeze to eat breakfast and get to AK in time for rope drop.

I think it'd be a tight squeeze to get to rope drop from boma.
Probably not likely unless everythign worked out just perfect.

Animal Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom Lodge are NOT as close as they sound. You really have no idea that they're near eachother at all b/c there's no way to walk from one to the other and the only transportation is still by bus- so it's hardly any different then getting from AKL to any Park.

We have done both breakfasts and they are BOTH delicious.
If you want characters- def go w/ tusker house- the interaction is great and i love the atmosphere there.
Why not go w/ an early Tusker House on a non EMH day and then you're right inside already??
But if not, I'm probably go w/ tusker house after a ride or 2.
If you want to do Boma more- our last trip we did it on our last day there before departing and it was a wonderful last day breakfast!

Basically theyr'e both very similar. Main differences being the characters- the atmosphere (boma is a little "nicer") and I think boma having a couple breakfast meats that TH does not.
They boht have the BEST juice though!

I was afraid that Boma might be a little too far from AK. It just looks so close on the map!

I hadn't even thought about doing Tusker House early on a non-EMH day. That's a great idea - I think we'll try for that. Is it a hard ADR to get?

Thanks so much! :)

Boma is really close to AK, its only a few minutes on the bus. It's the wait for the bus that can take the time.

They are both great, food very similar at both. Tusker House is fun with the characters, but if you haven't seen AKL it would be nice to visit and have a look around. But you can't go wrong with either, both great food.

Tusker House is better. Get a 8am ressie and you will be first on the safari on non EMH morning

Yes, Yes, Yes:cheer2: We did this last year and it was great!! Tusker House is just a few short steps from the safari so at rope drop we were already there:banana::banana::banana:

Thanks for the replies! We're definitely going to go with Tusker House, and maybe do Boma on a non-park day or the morning we leave. Or maybe I'll skip it this trip and then have an excuse to go back! ;)

Does Donald always appear at the Tusker House breakfast? He's my favorite. Who else is usuallly there?

Since AKL can be hard to get to using Disney transportation, I say Tusker House.

We will be eating at Tusker House on a non EMH morning for our first Disney trip as a family (dh and I have both been but not the kids - they have been MANY times to DLR). Seeing Donald and the quality of the Gluten Free breakfast along with the location were factors in our decision. :)

So how was it? I'm trying to decide between the two for our November trip. We have our own vehicle so waiting for a bus will not be a problem.

good plan!!

we have eaten at both places. Both have wonderful breakfast but Boma does has more food selection and can get eggs made to order. We do love Tusker house b/c of the characters. This one of my son favorite character meal so for our next trip we will go to Tusker House not go to Boma. Great food, juice and coffee. My husband had 5 glasses of the juice. Character interaction is wonderful here. Donald spend some time with my son goofying around. Then Mickey took my son hands and gave him an musical instrument for a musical Parade. We have gone to this breakfast buffet 3x and its a must for my son every trip. Hope this help and have a magical trip.

What is the best way to get to Tusker House for the earliest breakfast ADR? Can you take the bus to the park that early when AK isn't open yet? I've heard that the parking lot doesn't open for cars (we may rent one) until just before the park opens. Will they let you in earlier if you have an ADR at Tusker House?

I have to disagree with the masses here :confused3 About a month ago, we hit AK during an EMH morning, rode EE twice and a few others, then hopped on the AK Lodge bus to eat at Boma for a 10:20 ressie. It took us about 15 min total to get from point A to polint B, and that was with waiting around 5-6 min for the bus. Boma is amazing, and more than that the AK Lodge is amazing. We saw awesome animals on the overlook point. It was just a super cool morning. I plan on recreating it when I go back in August! :cool1:
