Coming for 3 days pre-cruise in August. DH really loves Boma breakfast from our last trip and wants to see if we can fit it in...so have added it to our Epcot day.

It's not 100% we're going to go though as it's pricey at $30 a person (4 people...both our kids are over 9)....and we're Canadian so in CAD it's even more.

Another option is The Wave breakfast that seems good as well and is a bit less.

Just wanted to get opinions on Boma vs The Wave (breakfast). Is one much better than the other or they are comparable?

As a note, if we picked The Wave, then we could move breakfast to our MK day. Logistically this makes more sense (even though I would prefer to take the time out of an Epcot day vs MK day)?

P.S. - Not sure if it makes a difference in terms of convenience but we're staying at Pop.

We have had both and prefer The Wave.

I am not really a fan of the more exotic spices so Boma was not my fav.

The Wave was delicious, everything tasted SO fresh.

Another favorite of ours is Trails End at Fort Wilderness, easy Ferry ride from MK and super affordable. I want to say it was around $15-20 each.

Thank you. Wasn't sure if Boma and Wave were completely different levels. Good to hear The Wave is just as good, and you even prefer it. DH likes those exotic tastes. Our kids and myself are more standard selection.

Question I added to my post, but after your response....I assume if we did The Wave, then it makes more sense to move it to our MK day vs Epcot day, right?

Not necessarily. - If you have a lot of plans for your MK day, but not as many things you want to do in Epcot, I understand your initial choice.

Transportation would be simpler on your MK day, of course, but not that bad for your Epcot day. - You could take a bus from POP to MK, then walk to the Contemporary. (Or you could spring for an Uber directly to the CR.) When leaving the Wave, you'd hop on the monorail to the TTC, then switch to the Epcot one.

As for the restaurants themselves, I've done breakfast at Boma and lunch at The Wave, and liked both. I personally don't think Boma is quite worth the price tag, but if it's your DH's one wish for the trip, I'd suck up the cost and enjoy visiting AKL.

Boma's is Great..No doubt about it...We are still itchin to get to the Wave for Breakfast..*( Been there 4 times for dinner, all excellent) If there is that much of a difference in price I would go with the Wave as well. Even though I think Boma's is a fabulous Buffet. The only drawback is that it's out of the way a bit. 1 other one I was going to mention was Kona Cafe for Brekkies...They have traditional as well as some unique things too...Either way enjoy :thumbsup2

Thanks! Yes in terms of attractions, there are more at MK than Epcot so perhaps either way we keep the ADR on Epcot day. If Bona, we would Uber there, and then Uber to Epcot. But you have a good point we could use monorail to get to Epcot if we select The Wave.

It was actually DH that said "let's see about Bona" when I mentioned it's $30 USD each. I'm good sticking with it if he wants.

Agree. From what I can tell, there is no easy way to get to Boma from Pop (or to get from there to Epcot) except by car. Last trip we rented a car, but we won't have one this time so probably Uber.

Thanks for the other suggestions. Will look into them, and Trails End too as other options.

The thing I would mention. If not super big breakfest eaters, go to the wave. You do not have to have the buffet, but can order individual. Great food and savings this way. Eggs benny that my girls love, but dont need 2eggs, just 1 each, they split. Look at the menu.

We find Boma way superior to the Wave. Much more variety, many more options available much better value.

I've never been to Boma, but I have changed airports to keep the Wave breakfast before my MK day (the airline changed my flight time and it arrived too late to make my Wave reservation -- I asked the airline where their earliest flight left from and problem solved!). I just love it, and once there, it's so convenient to just walk on over to MK.

Thanks. Good point! Love eggs benedict too :-)
This would be our one ADR so we'd probably stick to the buffet but great as an option (not that we really need it as our park days are followed by a cruise which is not short of food....lol)

Perfect...thanks. Love hearing the different opinions. WE did Boma breakfast last time around and it's the one meal that DH remembers and raves about.

Wow....that says a lot! This is not gonna be an easy choice but will definitely show DH this thread and let him have the final say.

We eat at the Wave a lot and it's consistently tasty and very convenient to MK but I think the comparison to Boma is apples to oranges. Breakfast at the Wave is standard breakfast food - nothing unique and certainly nothing you can't get back home. The buffet is not near the size of Boma.

In comparison, Boma has unique dishes and many more options. I'm afraid your DH will be disappointed if he really loved the uniqueness of Boma and instead gets your basic breakfast instead.

(I'm not a buffet person so Boma was not my favorite, but since DH loves a buffet The Wave is a great option for us - I just order off the menu)

Thank you...that helps too. Your comment really helps as I think it was the uniqueness that he really liked. I don't remember offhand what he found exceptional...aside from the variety and just different stuff, but I know the place stood out.

I enjoyed the breakfast buffet at The Wave, but in my opinion Boma is much better. Not that you asked, but if you are interested in a buffet closer to Epcot, take a look at Ale & Compass at the Yacht Club. The buffet is more limited, but it is available as an add-on to your entree, rather than as a stand-alone offering. Boma is my favorite breakfast at WDW and Ale & Compass is runner-up.

I agree. If you need another suggestion close to MK we also enjoy Trail’s End or Whispering Canyon Cafe even though it is not buffet it has an a la carte menu or platter.

I typically prefer the 'logistics' choice over 'food quality'.

If logistics is better by going to The Wave, then that would be my suggestion.

BUT!

But, in my opinion, the buffet breakfast at Boma is superior to The Wave for a host of reasons:
-- The variety of options at Boma is likely double the choices at The Wave.
-- There is a carving station for at least two [2] meats at Boma; there is nothing more than bacon & sausage on the steam table at The Wave.
-- There is an omelette station at Boma; you need to order eggs from the waiter/kitchen at The Wave (unless you want scrambled from the steam table), so good luck timing warm toast.
-- There are 'fixings' to include with oatmeal at Boma; The Wave offers none.

At best, The Wave offers a bit more upscale items (i.e., smoked salmon) that are nicely presented (i.e., yogurt parfaits in little jars), but if Boma is already a family-favorite, The Wave is not a substitute.

If there was a substitute for Boma, then Fresh (inside the Dolphin) is my 'second choice'. In part, my family enjoys Fresh because they have an omelette station & meat carvings in addition to freshly pressed juices (i.e., wheat grass, carrot, etc). Fresh also discounts for AAA & DVC.

FWIW, we eat at The Wave every vacation because we stay at Contemporary/Bay Lake - because it's convenient.

Not to throw another Monkey wrench into the mix, but this might be another option.
We did this years ago when my kids were a lil younger. We did the Lilo n Stitch character breakfast at Ohanas, which we thought was really really good... It also has a little bit of uniqueness to it, so that might suffice for the DH. But from what I remember it was an all u care to eat (I think) without having to get up....I believe like at dinner...* Someone can correct me if I'm wrong or this has changed.... But I do remember the food & the interaction being very good, and Also a sort monorail ride to MK>:teeth:

Thank you! Keep the opinions and comments coming! Really appreciate them. And other suggestions are appreciated too.

Haven't even discussed with DH first, but this is all great info and will show him the comments as well as other options, even outside of The Wave. This will probably be our only ADR since we have such a short Disney trip and it's followed by a cruise where food won't be lacking. Can see us booking Boma in the end, if we book an ADR, but an looking at all our options. Wish it was a bit better located near a park (aside from AK as that is the one park we won't be visiting) but at least there is uber if we want.

Thank you. And great signature btw....love how you've included your rating for various places
