What do they like to eat? Boma has a "kids" area of the buffet, anyone can eat from it. They have chicken fingers, spaghetti with sauce, mac & cheese, etc. The rest of buffet is really good, mostly food that is seasoned differently that most people are used to. They have a few meats to pick from, I'm thinking a rotissere-type chicken, salmon (REALLY good), prime rib, and maybe some pork?

Then there are veggies, the fufu (very similar to sweet potato casserole, YUM!), couscous with veggies in it, etc. I wasn't sure from the menu, but everything was good, and nothing was "weird"....does that make sense? We've been twice, and it's on our list for our next trip.

'Ohana is also good, it's been a couple of years since we've been there for dinner. It's back on our list for this year, though! They have activities for the kids, coconut races, hula hoop, etc. Our kids were too little when we were there, and I really didn't pay much attention. I'm sure they'll want to play this year though.

Can't speak to Boma, but we went to Ohana during our December, 2007 trip. I firmly believe that in this restaurant you are either rushed or ignored by your servers. We were ignored. It was difficult to get seconds on anything, especially the meats. And, it probably took about 30 minutes between the time we got our dessert and the time that we walked out the door - the service was that spotty. That being said, however, the food was good and I could see how it could have been a wonderful experience had we had a different server. The entertainment was very cool as well. For what it's worth, we are going back in September and will be trying Ohana again.

As to Boma, there is a very recent trip report which actually has a copy of the menu from Boma as well as very detailed pictures of the offerings from the menu. Personally, after seeing the menu and pictures, we crossed it off of our list. Anyway, good luck!

I think I would choose Boma if I had a picky eater in my family. Reason being that there is a lot more to choose from than at Ohana. If they don't like the food served at Ohana, you're kind of out of luck. At Boma there is at least the kids buffet - with pasta, mac & cheese, fries, chicken fingers, etc. Also, salad bar, dessert bar, etc. I would think that Boma would be 'safer' with a picky eater, even though many of the options are a little adventurous to some people. ???? (no picky eaters in my family, so it's a guess)

Also - we love walking around AKL, visiting the animals, exploring the lobby. Great atmosphere. We prefer the atmosphere of the AKL much more than the frantic atmosphere of the Poly GCH (my opinion) - we stayed at the Poly on our last trip and it was always nuts at the GCH.

Awesome - thank you i was already thinking Boma - going there - i know that the kids are taken care of and hubby should be able to suck it up - prime rib and he is set - thanks everyone!!!
