Hi there! Late-20's couple going to WDW this December for 2 weeks with no kids. We have reservations for Jiko and Sanaa already, but would like to try Boma too. However, we are also interested in Ohana, and have no reservations anywhere at the Polynesian, which we would like to see as well. Which is the better option for us for dinner? We can't do both as all dinner slots are full of signature restaurants on property.

If you are already heading to Jiko and Sanaa then i would say 'Ohana, food is great plus it's nice to have a walk along the beach after and hopefully catch Wishes depending on the time you're ADR is.

Although I haven't tried Ohana I would go there. We have been to Boma on many occasions but have noticed a decline at this one. Everything has cinnamon in it so if you don't like it A LOT don't bother. I have noticed that a lot of people have been saying this about BOMA recently on forums. On that same note I have noticed that everybody seems to love Ohana:thumbsup2 But for every person saying 'didn't like' there are lots of others saying 'loved it' about Boma. :confused3
Which one do you really fancy going to the most, what menu appeals to you more? Just go for what you head tells you to..:)

Since you are already eating at the AKL, I suggest going to Ohanas (if you like lots of meat).

Also, check out Ohana's menu to see if it interests you.
Ohanas - meat menu
Boma - unique menu

You'll enjoy exploring the Poly too.

I would go to Ohana since you are already going to Jiko. We ate at Ohana for the first time last year and I LOVED it so we are going back this year. I enjoy Boma too but Ohana will be something different for you, new atmosphere, etc.

Another vote for O'Hana....we love this place....plus after you can explore the resort...it's beautiful

I say hands down OHANA for dinner! For a first timer..Boma is great for breakfast!

From one 20-something couple to another, don't do 'Ohana. Besides the food being pretty awful (overcooked and tasteless meats, sides that you can get in the freezer section of your supermarket) the atmosphere is not geared for us. There is a very loud and obnoxious emcee that doesn't stop talking long enough for you to have a conversation that runs games for kids and the service for us has been awful. Even having a window seat facing MK durring Wishes could not save our last meal there. Ever since Le Cellier moved to a signature for dinner and has fallen off the grid a little, 'Ohana has taken it's place as the most overrated restaurant on property, IMO.

Since you want to see the Poly and are already going to head to AKL/Kidani, I would highly suggest Kona for dinner. The atmosphere alone will probably be more to your liking and it still gives you a chance to check out the Poly.

I think Boma's dinner is better than the breakfast. Also, the food is quite different from what you'll get at Jiko and far superior to the meal at 'Ohana.

If you simply want to NOT eat three meals at AKL, then by all means go to 'Ohana or somewhere else. But if you don't mind all that time at the Lodge, then I wouldn't even think twice about it -- Boma all the way.

And I don't dislike 'Ohana mind you. I don't even love Boma. But of the two, Boma is the much better meal -- by a lot.

We have eaten at both and have liked both. I think for a first timer and if you can get an ADR, go for Ohana's. Its a very festive atmosphere and I loved the all you care to eat style. It is a very popular restaurant for good reason.

I say if you can get in Ohana go w/ that. This will be our 1st time @ Ohana & we r excited about something different! Boma had a great breakfast but I have never eaten the dinner. I love the Poly. It's classic Disney & maybe my favorite WDW Resort. pirate:

What she said!

since u will already go the AKL I would do 'ohana. I will say Boma is a bit better but u should check out the Poly. Its a great resort

Another vote for Ohana! I have gone to both and while both are unique experiences, food wise Ohana wins hands down. They also serve some great drinks (try the backscratcher!) The food was yummy (even the bread pudding which I normally do not like)! My friend who is a picky eater had a hard time enjoying the food at Boma, she hit up the kid's section quite a bit there.

Thank you all very much for your replies! Since a choice has to be made, I think I'm gonna go with Ohana to catch the view of Wishes and see the Poly. We will be on the Deluxe Dining plan, and have one credit left over for a breakfast time meal. To get the most bang for the buck, I think I'm gonna book Boma for that meal, though I understand it's probably better at dinner. This way, at least we get to experience the restaurant, and we'll just use a couple of snack credits to pick up zebra domes and an interesting soup at Mara. Thanks again - I love this website!

Ohana, try Lapu lapu cocktails served in pineapples! Ask to be seated away from the main activity and make sure you are there when Wishes is piped into the restaurant and you can watch the fireworks.:surfweb:
