Boma or Jiko...

opinions please:thumbsup2

Boma: buffet, more adventurous offerings than Jiko, noisy, busy, best buffet at WDW, non adventurous eaters do not seem to enjoy it much, excellent soups, a favorite when we are doing family dining.

Jiko: fine dining, excellent choice of African wines, some excellent dishes and some only so-so, surprisingly not as unusual as one might think (Boma definitely has more unique menu items). All diners can find something they like here. Service is slow paced; not the best choice with young children. A favorite when we are doing adult only dining.

Both are quite good...choose by what type of dining experience you want and how much time you have.

Boma...you can be in/out in about an hour. Yes, it is the best buffet on disney property. Food is very good, has been since they opened the doors.

Jiko...Plan a good couple of hours if you enjoy all the courses, can easily go longer if you enjoy nice wines with your meal. Food is very good as well.

You really can't go wrong with either. We choose according to our plans for that particular day.

I have never been to Jiko, but we go to Boma every trip. Sometime the members in the travel party differ, but everyone who has been loved it. My step-mother, who is a vegetarian said she was very impressed by the number of choice available to her. We are headed back in June and my eight year old, who is the pickiest eater in the family put that on his list of places to go.

We have never been in and out in under an hour, but we tend to make a number of trips to the buffet - soup trip, salad trip, main course, and desserts. I must admit that sometimes I make the soup trip twice. There have been at least two 2-bottle of wine dinners there.

Been to both. We prefer JIKO. I like the food variety better there and the fact that the line to get you're food at JIKO, well, is non-existant:lmao: ...

The lines at the Boma buffet areas were very long and I just don't remember any one thing standing out there. JIKO has been good everytime and if you can sit at the Cooking Place you can be in and out in about an hr. which isn't bad. We did encounter not so good service there for the first time the last time we ate there so we've taken a break but we're do to return maybe next trip.

I think it really depends. With young children, we found that Boma was much easier to manage. The food is great, and there are plenty of options for children (my 4-year old still talks about the Zebra Dome desserts).

That said, if you don't have little ones with you, Jiko is really amazing. I would highly recommend eating there!

Jiko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my family ate there on christmas day last year and it was absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!!
we maybe eating there again this year (it's usually not too hard to get into cause everyone goes to the other places).

it's a slower paced meal that is meant to be enjoyed with good company and great wine. everyone in my family is over 21, so we got a few bottles of wine and everyone was tasting everyone else's food because it was all so different and we didn't want to miss a single thing.

My 12 yo DS still talks about the filet mignon he ate last summer at Jiko. It is now his favorite restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant, quiet, kids I saw there are very well behaved.

But we also love Boma. In the future we will save Jiko for special occasions due to the expense.

simple way to decide....

Boma...families.
(Loud, fun)
Jiko...couples.
(quiet, romantic)

Which is your group?

We love both Boma & Jiko. We ate at Jiko twice in October and had great meals and service both times. Boma is our favorite buffet at WDW.
