Boma or Jiko: Which one?

After looking at the menus we can't decide which restaurant to eat at, Boma or Jiko. If you could only pick one which one would you eat at and why? Both of the menus looked good to us and we don't really care about buffet vs sit down meal.

We always eat at Boma and Jiko. If I had to pick one, it would be Jiko because of the food and the atmosphere.

The only comparison between the two restaurants is that they serve "African" food at the AKL. The similarities end there... both are VERY unique restaurants, each with their own pros and cons! (for all you TAR fans! ;) )

DH and I adored Jiko, so my suggestion would be to go for Jiko if money is no object and you enjoy the "fine dining" experience. If not, go for Boma - terrific food and a great bang for your buck! You can't go wrong either way... :goodvibes

We always do both as well. Although we absolutely love Jiko, I'd probably suggest Boma since you would get the opporunity to try multiple items in a single meal.

We tried Boma on our last trip and loved it!!! I chose it because I thought it would be easier for everyone to find things that they liked there, since you can sample so many different foods. I hear Jiko is teriffic, but you have to pick just a few things to try. Go with whichever appeals to you most!

Well, it really depends on what type of dinning experiance you want. Boma is a buffett that is family friendly. Jiko goes for a more upscale feel and atmosphare and you can sit and enjoy a relaxing meal if that is what you are looking for. We love the filet with the mac and cheese at Jiko and then I usually have the recommended wine pairing, always very good.

Jiko. Boma was loud and we found the food just ok and, with the exception of the potatos, pretty bland.

We've been to Boma 5 times and Jiko once if that tells you anything. Jiko was ok, but not as good or exotic as I expected it to be. I love Boma since you can try a little bit of everything and there are more unique foods there than at Jiko.

While DH and I would probably have preferred the finer dining atmosphere, I convined him to try Boma (he hates buffets). Like other posters, I was worried about having to choose one item and not liking it. Wanted to try something a little more ethnic without the fear of wasting my money.

We adored Boma--it was a little noiser than regular sit down restaurants but who isn't prepared for that in Disney? The variety was great.

Now, we will definitely eat at Jiko in the near future.

I would recommend trying Boma first.

I totally agree!!! :thumbsup2 It depends who you are going with, and what kind of atmosphere you're looking for. I love both places, but I would pick Jiko first because dining there is such a special experience. :teeth:

Man,this is tough to answer since they're both vastly different experiences. Both have amazing food and are worth visiting. Boma is our family favorite though, so if I had to pick from two I'd go with it.

I would add that if you are looking for a good wine selection ... go for Jiko.

We have never tried Jiko but we did try Boma's this year for the 1st time and it was great!

Don't forget to try the zebra domes! :worship:

Definitely Jiko. Boma is good, but Jiko has atmosphere, a great menu, and a superb wine list. :)

We looooved BOMA last July and will return next May. Never tried Jiko, but from what I've seen on the Travel Channel specials, it's a bit too exotic for our family (esp. picky DH!) Good luck with your decision :)

We went to BOMA on our Disneymoon and loved it!! I would go to BOMA first because you haven't been to either. That way you have a buffet and can try everything!! I know I want to go to Jiko, but I would hit BOMA first!

I wouldn't eat at Boma again...my wife and I thought it was the biggest waste of money at Disney. I'd try Jiko!

I'm not much of a Boma dinner fan. I love their breakfast. I would choose Jiko simply for the quieter dining experience.

Oh ye gods....this is like choosing between family members!

I'd say Jiko's, as much as we love Bomas. IMHO, Jiko's is second only to Victoria and Albert's in food quality. We thought it was that darn good. It is pricey, and is more of an upscale, formal type of place. If I were dining with my kids, I'd choose Boma's. But if it were just my wife and I....I'd choose Jiko's. Of course, I'd have to come back another night to eat at Bomas...and probably a morning, too! :)
