Wow! What a unique restaurant! We ate there for breakfast and dinner during out weekend stay at the AKL (I will be posting a resort review on the Resorts board so keep an eye out for that!) I consider myself a "foodie." I am always on the lookout for great places to dine. I don't usually consider a buffet a great dining experience but this place is phenomenal. Now, if you are a picky eater, forget it. I mean, you can certainly "find" plain, simply prepared items, but I think it would be a waste of money to go here if you are not a bit adventurous. The food is not "spicy hot." but there are lots of seasonings...a lot of curry and cumin flavors. One thing I really liked...there are a lot of items that mix "sweet" and "savory." Like the Coconut Chicken Curry soup, or the Carrot/Ginger/Cheese soup. Or the Bobotie...which DH and I likened to latin "picadillo"...a meat hash with raisins in it.

I had this board in mind when I sampled everything. You may think I am exaggerating, but I swear I tasted 90% of the items. there were 6 soups there and I tried every one and every one was a winner. The famous zebra domes were DELICIOUS, as was the coconut Tiramisu. There were plenty of other desserts as well, but those stand out as my favorite!

I cannot wait to get back to this restaurant. I feel it is the best value for your money, also.

We LOVE Boma, too, and it's an "every trip place to eat dinner" for us!! When I was making our PS for our upcoming trip, I asked my 11 yo where he wanted to eat and he said Boma in about 1/2 second......
I always say I'm not going to eat as much as last time, but then you get there and that goes out the window!! Can't wait to eat at Boma on December 18th!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Boma also had a wonderful breakfast. Out CM, Albert, was friendly and helpful. Even though coffee comes with the breakfast, DH and I decided to get the Pressed Pot...they actually bring a french press to your table filled with an upgraded coffee. It was well worth the $5.99. When we finished it we were going to switch to the regular coffee, but Albert refilled it for us. I am not sure if that is standard practice, but we appreciated it. We also had some "frunch" which is their famous "fruit punch" with orange, mango, pineapple and grenadine (and maybe something else I am missing.) It was delicious but I knew better than to fill up on that. It would be great with some rum in it, BTW!!!

If you are not an adventurous eater, the breakfast would still be fine for you. They had standard breakfast fare...carved ham and pork, breakfast pizzas, scrambled eggs, bacon, sauasage, and omelette station, fresh fruit, pastries, muffins, pancakes, waffles...but there are also two items by the carving station that are unique. One was a corned beef hash bobotie, and the other was some sort of stew with biscuit topping. It had pieces of cut up veggies in it (green and yellow squash) and some sort of meat and a yellow curry sauce. It was delicious and I got a second helping of that.

Oh, they have wonderful selections for children at both dinner and breakfast.

I highly recommend the culinary tour of Jiko and Boma that is given at 4 pm on certain days. You will get some samples there, so if you are not sure you want to try either restaurant, this may give you a good idea. As I was walking through the buffet line at Boma on the tour, I swear, I was getting so excited! I could tell this is MY kind of restaurant!

Oh, and they change the menu daily. That is to say...the menu is the same on Mondays and Thurdays, and then they have a different menu on Tuesdays and Fridays, and a different menu Wed and Sat. Sunday they repeat one of the weeks menus.

I cannot wait to dine at Boma again!

Robin-You are lucky your son loves it! Our DD6 is not an adventurous eater so as long as there are chicken fingers, mac and cheese, etc (like there is at EVERY WDW restaurant) she is happy! But I agree...I cannot see going to WDW without a stop at Boma from now on!

I really liked it too. When on vacation I love to try new things. My DH is not quite as adventurous as I am, but he is willing to go for me. :)

My Dh and I went to Boma while we were there...my idea I'll try anything, he's kinda picky. He tried everything! And he loved it!! He's been raving about boma ever since! We will eat here on each trip for sure!

Thanks for the review. After reading your first post, I had a question, but your second one answered it. ;)
Im a plain eater, but Im thiking of going to Boma for breakfast. The menu looks great and Ive always wanted to try it. After hearing your review Im more excited. :D

BOMA is always a "must do" for our trips, we love it!!:Pinkbounc For us, the service has always been fantastic as well, so it makes it easier to want to return.

Thanks for you review of Boma. We are planning to have dinner there during our trip in February. My DH wanted to go to the usual places we eat at (Epcot restaurants), but I suggested that we try some new places. I am very excited to try Boma and see AKL!

We're going this coming Sat night. My dd is really hesitent but there will be the everpresent kid offerings so she'll be fine. But my dh and I are really excited about this dinner. Thanks for the great review. My mouth is watering already.

I love Boma, too. We are going in January and I can't wait! I'm sticking to my salads until them so I can have whatever I want!

Thanks!

We just made priority seatings yesterday for all our days but one. We are into trying new places now so this sounds wonderful. If I can sweet talk DW into it, Im there in Jan.

I had Sunday Brunch there a couple years ago, it was so good! I'm looking forward to having dinner there sometime. :)
